Quite a risk for the Secret Service to have to ride in an elevator with a guy with incontinent bowels.
Or sitting next to him in a vehicle.
Many of these places of worship employ or feature people who can heal infirmities simply by touch.
TONS better than ADA compliance, IMHO.
I laughed way more than I should have!
But…very good point.
I’ve heard* that Dream City Church’s insurance company is requiring the installation of a lightning rod before Trump enters the building.
*(in my own head)
And WAY cheaper.
The dummy apparently wears his Depends on the wrong end of the body.
Former President Trump mocked former President Carter on Monday during his Iowa caucus victory speech, appearing to take a dig at Carter in the wake of his wife’s death.
“My wife attended the funeral two months ago of Rosalynn Carter. And it was beautiful. Jimmy Carter was there,” Trump said. “I thought to myself, Jimmy Carter is happy now, because he will go down as a brilliant president by comparison to Joe Biden.”
I have this picture of them whistling and nudging him as he tries to shuffle the wrong way. MOOOO.
Why would you want to have a lightning rod installed in your own head?
I visited a church in Lansing Michigan that had the best accessibility I ever saw. The building was built many years before accessibility requirements and the front steps were tall. But it was located on a slope of ground, so the lower level was a ground level entrance. They built an elevator later on that directly opened into the back of the sanctuary. They had rails in all hallways, handicapped bathrooms of course, and all kinds of audio and visual aids in the sanctuary. There was also a shallow ramp up to the altar rail. The altar, originally flush with the wall, had been brought forward and the rail built around it, far enough from the altar that even a clergy person could get inside of it, should they be in a wheelchair themselves. And several pews had chunks taken out, so wheelchair bound worshippers could feel like they weren’t blocking the aisle.
The churches you attend follow the teachings of Christ.
The churches trump visits…not so much.
Trump doesn’t visit churches. He engages in a drive by.
I remember back when he posed in front of that church, using it as a backdrop while he held up a Bible. He didn’t ask permission, and did not respond later when the rector of the church, and the bishop of the(Episcopal) diocese admonished him for it.
Good one, but the asterisk was after “I heard”, to indicate that it wasn’t a news article or anything. I’d only heard it “in my own head”.

By the way, I love the accessible church referenced upthread.
(I’m still trying to wrap my head around a church that isn’t: “We love everyone, unless you’re a fuckin’ cripple. Drag yourself up our stairs if you want to attend here.”)
I spent four years as an acolyte (“altar boy”) at that very church.
I don’t know why, but I had it in my head that you were LDS.
My church was built in the 1830’s - it’s the oldest Episcopal church west of the Appalachians. Obviously, it’s not ADA compliant. Sometime in the last hundred years, they added a ramp to the front steps, and the back area where the some of the classrooms are has a zero entry, but the offices are totally inaccessible. We did just finish a massive capital campaign for the bicentennial, which will totally renovate and make the entire church ADA compliant.
ADA compliancy for old buildings can send your local historical society into a tither. Seen it.
Headline on CNN.com today-- trump is breaking out one of his favorite weapons again, the racist dog whistle:
Trump attacks Haley while referring to her by her first name Nimarata
Shouldn’t that read: “Drumpf attacks Haley while referring to her by her first name Nimarata”?
Also, the article say he misspells Nimarata as “Nimrada” in a Truth Social post. So I think we should all follow suit, and misspell his family name. From now on let’s refer to him as “Donald Dump”.
What a Nimrod.
The outward appearance of the original church will remain unchanged (except the bell tower will no longer be leaning), so the county historical society and the National Register have approved the plans.
