How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

Here’s how you can tell it’s fake: it’s not mean-spirited in any way.

It’s just wishing “merry christmas” and doesn’t include any hateful message or claims the election was stolen (ok it’s implied, but Trump’s not one for subtlety) or bragging.

The phallic imagery is much more plausible.

I knew it was fake immediately. There was no appeal for donations.

Another kind of present from The Orange One:

Perdue may be notably unattractive to many voters. But that may not matter:

If the Georgia GOP can simply bypass county election apparatus and declare whichever winners they prefer, then it won’t matter that Perdue is a dud.

We have a precarious form of democracy in the United States. There are layers of mostly autonomous governmental bodies starting on the national level and filtering layer-by-layer down to the municipal level; from President of the United States to Assistant Dog-Catcher. And in large part they get to decide how to choose people in power.

And for the most part this is handled democratically; by a majority vote of eligible citizens under the jurisdiction of whatever position is being filled. The people get to pick their own leaders. But that’s not necessarily by mandate. Remember that US Senators weren’t elected by popular election until 1913, and prior to that the legislatures of each state picked who went to the Senate. There was no popular vote for President of the United States until 1820, and instead the President was elected solely by electors on their own volition. Our election process puts more power in the hands of the common citizenry than it was in the past, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way.

On top of that, the states are mostly given the authority to tinker around with the way they conduct elections. Which should be scary. I can see a scenario where we have actual fascism being legally allowed at the local level, and while that may only disenfranchise a few, that sort of thing has the potential to trickle up. The only thing that I see preventing such a thing is the public blowback such a thing might cause, and the most people shrug when voting rights are whittled away, the less fear there is for that blowback.

Oh can’t we all just sing him just One More Carol?

.

♫ Oh, The Committee outside is frightful ♫
♫ but indictments seem delightful ♫
♫ And since you’ve no place to go ♫
♫ Better Go, Better Go, Better Go! ♫

♫ Man, it doesn’t show signs of stopping ♫
♫ (…and your Minions, like corn, are popping…) ♫
♫ Your Opinion Polls are way down low ♫
♫ Better Go, Better Go, Better Go! ♫

♫ When you finally say goodnight ♫
♫ They’ll all stop laughing at you 'round the dial ♫
♫ But if you can still hold your sanity tight, ♫
♫ We can both see you go with a Smile…! ♫

♫ Your GOP is sick of your lying, ♫
♫ ( And the smart ones are all goodbye-ing ) ♫
♫ Can’t spend $130,000 on another Hoe? ♫
♫ Better Go, Better Go, Better Go! ♫

Bravo! Bravo!!!

Sadly, most of them aren’t.

If they knew the word, they’d probably say he’s not lying, he’s being pragmatic. Whatever sounds right at the time; it can always be denied later, even if it’s right there on fucking tape.

The Art of the Deal

Given that in recent election cycles the RNC has raised and spent in total something under 900 million dollars, I wonder how they feel about the prospect of spending nearly 2% of that total on defending Trump’s financial shenanigans.

If I were a Republican candidate competing for that pool of money to support my campaign expenses, I would be somewhat irritated by Trump skimming off those funds for his personal legal battles.

No, you wouldn’t. Because you’d be in thrall, with a Pence-like expression on your face as you spoke about how lucky the GOP was to be given the opportunity to pay for some of PRESIDENT Trump’s legal expenses, even if he wouldn’t allow them to pay for it all.

These aren’t rational people, eh.

Maybe, but I don’t think all Republican candidates’ personal adoration of Trump is proof against the experience of Trump getting some party funding that the candidate thinks they should have gotten instead.

Meanwhile, that money isn’t going to fight Democratic candidates, so it’s a win for our side no matter what GOP candidates think.

Appalling… but not too surprising, especially while he was seeking reelection.

And I maintain they’re still rooting for covid because as the death numbers go up, Biden’s ratings go down. It’s worth the sacrifice!

Keep making those omelets!

Trump says American Jews ‘no longer love Israel’ and Jewish people ‘run the New York Times’

Just finished reading Betrayal by Jonathan Karl. It was great. Who knew a president could be so unhinged.

If he calls them rapists, I get a Bingo!
