How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

He’ll probably claim to have a secret plan to bring peace to the middle east. Which he will reveal only if he is elected. And he didn’t do it in the 4 years of his last term because… Biden stopped him.

Don’t forget the deep state, wokeness, dei, blm, antifa, etc.

Oh, don’t be so negative. Trump couldn’t spend any time for that. All his efforts were spent on preventing the breakout of World War Two, don’t you know?

From your lips to the shithead’s mouth (Yahoo! link).

Following Iran’s attack on Israel, former President Trump shared a heated message to those in attendance at his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, vowing it should not have happened.

“Before going any further, I want to say God bless the people of Israel. They’re under attack right now. That’s because we show great weakness,” Trump said to open his speech. “The weakness that we’ve shown is unbelievable, and it would not have happened if we were in office. You know that. They know that, and everybody knows that.”

Mildly confusing use of “we” there. We, the USA, or we, the MAGA party?

I like the ambivalence.

Obviously I do not like the complete batshittery of Trump’s claims.

Mr. “Pull all the troops from Iraq, Syria, and other countries I can’t identify but are definitely shitholes”?? And where exactly is this strength coming from?

Arggggh, Steve - trying to make sense of anything he says is fruitless. (Actually I enjoy torturing a couple of my right-leaning friends with logic and facts - I hope to SAVE them).

It’s the “royal ‘we’”.

I actually watched the whole video in a vain attempt to see what makes these people tick. The point I took away was that she discounts all mainstream media as liars and purports to get all of her information from Telegram.

She says the country is falling apart but the only thing she can point to support this is the supposed shoplifting crisis.

She says that the country is doing nothing for her, but when the reporter pointed out that she had access to healthcare, she indignantly said that was because she and her husband were entitled to this because he served 20 years in the military. (I will point out that American taxpayers like myself are therefore paying for her healthcare.)

The reporter pointed out that crime is down, employment is up, and inflation is down and she flat out didn’t believe any of this. She bemoaned the fact that it was impossible to talk to liberals while being as close-minded and resistant to new facts and ideas as humanly possible.

I watched that too. They claim to be victims, they want to be victims because someone else caused there problems. Their problems are not their life choices. And it’s not like she was living under a bridge.

The interviewer said he would talk to her and she walked away.

Facts are a scary thing when you get all your information from liars.

And @enipla

Thanks for takin’ one for the team. I’m curious, but I don’t have the intestinal fortitude to actually watch those videos.

@robby did too.

As far as watching the video - Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

We need to try to figure out what these people are thinking. But it’s an impossible task.

That’s how my brother resolved his cognitive dissonance. Anything reported by, as an example, the NYT could be dismissed out of hand. No need to fact check, it could be assumed false.

I use the past tense because he’s taking baby steps out of MAGA land. His current position is that both sides are equally bad, both parties are in the process of nominating senile crooks, etc.

Yeah, the excuse that everybody does it, so it’s a witch hunt after their god DJT.

They tried to find information to impeach Biden. Didn’t work out so well. MAGA’s will just say that that’s because Democrats are so good at hiding their crimes.

That’s not as good of a defense as they think it is.

Yes, and even his current position still requires some mental gymnastics of the type you describe. When I ask him what exactly makes Biden a crook, there’s a lot of sputtering and hand waving. It’s just a given, indisputable.

Side discussion on this point though. What Trump and MAGA have trained their followers to do is nearly indistinguishable from our local “under the bridge” trolls! Rather than try to understand and fix complicated problems (personal, interpersonal, local, regional, national and the like) it’s all about finding someone to blame and attack.

It’s not just enough to not be responsible (a former Republican-claimed virtue), but you have to identify “the enemy” and make them suffer. Sure, it doesn’t fix anything in the real world, but hatred and unjustified attacks are all cheap fixes that don’t require much if any effort by MAGA leadership.

So it’s not bad enough that MAGA is made up of trolls, but they teach their people to be trolls.

(I’m assuming though you meant “living under a bridge” as the person in question had a secure life, but it works far too well in our other, more local meaning too)

This is a great point. To use my brother as an example again, it seems really critical to him to be part of an in-group that gets to shit on an undesirable out-group. He may jump around a bit into different in-groups in his Venn diagram of tribes, but that seems to be the consistent theme.

And it seems really important to him, giving him great satisfaction.

Just like the woman a few years ago who was disillusioned with Trump, because Trump voter: ‘He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting’ (msnbc.com)

Yes, their victimhood is absolute: even God is mean to them.

(Closed systems of thought are certainly essential to the existence of dictatorships. And closed systems of thought depend on both ‘living in fear’ and ‘bone-deep laziness.’ How fortunate for Trump and his minions that so many Americans are characterized by both.)

I seriously cannot stand the sentence structures and words he uses (when he actually uses anything close to logical). My 7 year old granddaughter speaks at a higher level. Ugh!

It doesn’t matter how many Republican leaders say Trump is a threat to democracy. They are still going to vote for him. And here’s why. They think that 51% of Americans don’t believe in honesty, integrity or decency. That they don’t care about facts or truth or even law and order. They think these Americans are venal, hateful and as unprincipled as they are. Their low opinion of the electorate is a pretty sad state of affairs. And may prove right.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Just to sum up. You support Trump for president even if he’s convicted in the classified documents case. You support him for president even though you believe he contributed to an insurrection. You support him for president even though you believe he’s lying about the last election. You support him for president even if he’s convicted in the Manhattan case. I just want to say, the answer to that is yes, correct?

SUNUNU: Yeah. Me and 51 percent of America.
