I was wondering if they’d allow him to clean up on intake, and if they would allow him a new diaper (or more diapers). If reports of his incontinence are true, I wonder if there would be any leaks a witness or witnesses would divulge the information.
I’m not saying that they’ll bring Trump into court in an orange jumpsuit. I’m sure someone could bring him a razor and a clean suit, the stuff most guys would need to look presentable. I just think that Trump’s vanity would require a lot more than that. He’d either have to tell his attorneys everything he needs for his morning beauty routine, or appear in court without it all. I think either one would be awkward for him.
I think prison officers have standards.
They would most likely prefer to let Trump shit his pants at home than soil his orange overall in prison.
Less laundromat costs, at the very least.
Actually, for me the best part of @Robot_Arm’s suggestion is that there’s evidence that Trump naps a lot during the day, but is up at weird hours of the night. So normally, a night in jail is as good as it gets, just sleep it off as it were. But imagine Trump up half the night (per his early AM twuths) with NO internet or other entertainment. The discontent and bored-dumb (deliberate) of a 3 year old without a tablet to soothe them would be positively miniscule by comparison.
Excuse me, I need to take a break to go sit under a waterfall or something. I can positively feel the dark side of the force eating away at me.
Completely understandable, PL.
I’d love to see the NYS legislature rush through a law allowing a trial judge to impose financial penalties for contempt commensurate with a defendant’s financial means.
In Finland, traffic fines are scaled to what you earn. So it can sting.
I’m certainly with ya on that… but my dark crusted veins want more!
Walt Nauta will take a cue from Rudolf Hess and get himself locked up with his master. He’ll have plenty of time to make trump look pretty.
You have to wonder how many of the January 6 indicted realize that Donald Trump was still President for TWO WEEKS after they committed their crimes.
How, exactly, did Democrats keep Trump from pardoning them then, when he had full power to do so?
It’s not the coverage, it’s asking him about whether he’d support political violence or whether he’ll accept the results of the election. His answers to these questions are a matter of public record and asking them again just gives him a platform to blow his dogwhistles and stir the stochastic pot. It’s irresponsible. …
Sure it’s irresponsible. But how can you expect media-owning corporations to give up profits in the name of responsible conduct?
CNN and MSNBC and others rake in the eyeballs when they do Trump Is Scary headlines. They won’t give that up for anything.

Double bind - admit (probably with loads of paperwork) his earnings aren’t so great to keep the number low. And/or have to cash out even more property to pay it off.

Never underestimate the human capacity for hypocrisy and self-deception.
Not that these are particularly admirable examples of humanity

The latest blather from the twerp is something I should expect, but for some reason it just pissed me off.
First off, he wants to use the military to sate his followers’ cruelty:
He suggested he could use the military to carry out mass deportations of undocumented immigrants
Then he wants nanny state authoritarianism against women:
and that states with abortion bans could monitor pregnant women to ensure they don’t terminate their pregnancies.
Then comes a warning that the way to prevent political violence a la January 6, 2021 is to re-elect him:
He also suggested there wouldn’t be political violence in the November election if he wins ― but that “if we don’t win, you know, it depends,” he said.
Speaking of the 1/6 insurrection:
Asked if he would consider pardoning every single person sentenced over their roles in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, Trump said he “absolutely” would.
And lest there be any doubts about him as an authoritarian such as Putin (his hero/idol):
He also said he would consider firing a U.S. attorney who didn’t prosecute someone he ordered them to.
This is not a normal person with a healthy mind. What pisses me off more than him is so many people support him in his endeavor to destroy this “Great Experiment” called the United States of America.
I like that the judge wrote, "“It would be preferable if the Court could impose a fine more commensurate with the wealth of the contemnor,”
What are the odds on any of those fines getting paid?
What fine/judgement/retainer/fee/salary has actually been paid, by Trump?
Isn’t it turtles all the way down?
Given all the publicity about how he stiffs or shortchanges people who work for him, I’m pretty sure that his lawyers demanded a hefty retainer up front. IME, that’s actually normal for engaging a lawyer, whether you’re Donald Trump or Joe Nobody. If the lawyer doesn’t use it all, the client gets the unearned change back.
The lawyers thus engaged wouldn’t care where the money came from. As long as it was earmarked for the client’s case, it would be applied to the client’s matter.
As such, and assuming that Trump’s lawyers had such a sum on hand, I think they’d pay the fines on behalf of Trump and just charge it against his retainer. The court doesn’t care whether the fine payments come out of Trump’s pocket or not; as long as they receive the fine payments levied against him.
The lawyers thus engaged wouldn’t care where the money came from.
‘Wait a minute! I’m certain you said I be paid in rubies, NOT rubles!’

I realise that asking for logic from Trump is a losing battle, but what here is he proposing? If a woman purchases a pregnancy test, is that going to be autowired to report the result to the government? How else is the state going to monitor who is or is not currently pregnant? Compulsory emails?
“Hey, Babe, I am so excited to tell you, we are PREGNANT!!! (and I have emailed my state government ALREADY!!)”
Do you get an exemption from monitoring upon proof of menopause? So many, many questions.
If a woman purchases a pregnancy test, is that going to be autowired to report the result to the government? How else is the state going to monitor who is or is not currently pregnant? Compulsory emails?
Maybe not quite germane, but I do recall my ex-wife. She was originally American, and naturally, covered by some sort of for-profit health insurance when she was in the US. She had a “no pregnancy” rider on her health insurance, which lessened the premium.
Then she moved to Canada, where that didn’t matter. She never wanted children, so if she got pregnant, she could have an abortion at no out-of-pocket charge. No insurance hassles, no questions. She was covered by the provincial health plan, which covered abortions.
Because of that, and other reasons, she wouldn’t move back to the US for all the money in the world. Hell, she’s a doctor, and doesn’t have to employ an array of clerks just to look after sixteen-bazillion insurance companies’ claim forms. It’s one and done for her, and she’ll expect the government cheque at the end of the month. She gets it, no questions asked.
She left the US, but knowing her the way I do, if you told her that a pregnancy test was communicating with a state or federal authority, she’d leave anyway. As far as she was concerned no government at any level had any say in her reproductive health.
I suggest women mail them their used Kotex.
This shit is really pissing me off, in case it isn’t obvious. I hope even women on the right will have a problem with how far they are going.

Depends on if you trust corporations or not:
Privacy advocates warn that mobile data, including the kind users provide to period trackers and fertility apps, could be used to track people who might be considering abortion.
