My conspiracy theory — or it’s the opposite of a conspiracy, because the whole point is that there never did turn out to be someone on the same page as the guy — is that he was doing that thing we’ve seen him do plenty of times since, where he (a) never actually comes out and says he wants someone to break the law but (b) makes it pretty obvious that he’d sure like for someone to break the law.
Namely, that he wanted someone to offer him a lot of money if he’d endorse Candidate X while dropping out of the race; he’d then loudly and often proclaim that he would’ve totally won if he’d stayed in, or he’d bask as a kingmaker if the endorsee wins; but, either way, he’d have, y’know, all that money on top of all that publicity.
But, to his astonishment, the payoff offer never came; day after day, week after week, he kept asking himself why none of these idiots were offering him what he would’ve gladly accepted, but would never request: I mean, I want the money, and you have the money, and you want my endorsement, and I can’t believe you’re not getting that this is the part where you make the winning move…

I was noticing during his court appearances he wasn’t as orange as he used to be plus the racoon eyes were not as prominent. I was wondering if he’d been persuaded to dial it back a bit or perhaps because the lighting was florescent tubes so common in government buildings.

I think you may be onto something. A more immediate payoff and a large lump sum. He’d be all over that like a fly on shit.

Yes, Trump is openly crowing about his plan to end democracy. I’d be curious to know how the crowd received this–loud cheers? Scattered applause as they took it in?
If the Trump/Vance campaign is going to openly use the “Let’s End Voting!!!” theme, they will succeed in bringing out quite a few independents and moderates who don’t always bestir themselves to vote—and this time they will do so for the Democrats. (And of course it will also bring out the most right-wing extremists for Trump, too.)
