How has the disgraced, CONVICTED FELON, former but once again President Trump pissed you off today? (Part 1)

Well, at least if he ends voting the GOP won’t need to worry any more about trying to restrict early voting and mail-in ballots.

Another interpretation is that he just doesn’t give a damn what happens after his second term. He’ll have pardoned himself, sold official secrets, charged the Secret Service as much as possible for whatever he can think of, etc. He won’t give a damn who succeeds him or what comes next for the GOP.

But the authoritarian thing is also perfectly plausible.

I don’t think I could be convinced that Trump would ever be willing to leave the Presidency. (Thus, the question of a successor would simply not occur to him. It’s an entirely irrelevant concept.)

He depends on being the center of attention. The only way he’d voluntarily stop being President is if his cult and minions insisted that he stop being President and start being Emperor.

love that rugby!

Am I missing something?

Wrong thread, is my guess.

Imagine that he doesn’t get elected and now he has has to face those criminal indictments all over again.

Rachel Maddow made some points in her MSNBC segment that had me a bit sleepless last night:

I read that Rolling Stone piece last night and it seems pretty clear that the plan is to disrupt congressional certification and throw the election to a vote by state delegations.

Legitimate democracy be damned.

I guess since while red states have less population overall, There are more of them. I’m guessing this is a one vote per state deal. Like what would happen in the house.

They’re talking about House “state delegations.” So exactly that. Like what almost happened last time, “no valid certification on January 6th, let the states decide.”

So explain this to me like I’m five. How does this work?

Some MAGA election official refuses to certify a county in a battleground state. Repeat in a couple more states. The states are thus unable to do a final and official certification to send to Congress. No candidate gets the required number of electoral votes, and the election is thrown to the House, where each state delegation gets one vote. Since the Republicans have more states, Trump wins.

The End

this more than anything else got me nauseated. this is seriously scary stuff. states with packed legislators can do some very serious damage to the vote.

this needs to mentioned over and over and over again. it can not wait until november.

Rachel didn’t go on to say what could be done about this.
She implies that the pieces are already in place, and Donny’s statements seem to confirm that.

Well, that’s terrifying! Something must be able to be done between now and Nov 5. Maybe the “red” states won’t be as red as they seem? So many people are getting behind the Harris campaign that it might make a difference? I don’t know, but I’d sure like to help in my small way.

She had Senator Warren on next, who said they had lawyers ready to intervene. So, the DNC is aware of the problem.

I know that’s the theory but I don’t think it would work that way.

In every case in the past where this happened, we had vote tallies and no candidate received the required number. In the hypothetical case here, the vote tally didn’t finish. So why would you just move on to the House vote?

Hell, going by that logic, today you can say that neither side has enough electoral votes, and just toss it to the House for a vote. But you wouldn’t do that, because it’s premature. Just as it would be in the hypothetical.

Now, if you say, “the right doesn’t care and they’ll just push for the House vote anyway”, there is no reason for anyone to participate in what is clearly an illegitimate process.

It would cause chaos, surely. But it wouldn’t end with the left shrugging and saying, “You got us, Trump is president now.” That’s Sovereign Citizen logic.
