While I don’t love that, it’s in line with what others have done. It’s not nearly as controversial as Jordon, Limbaugh, and Nunes.
That’s the thing - it’s an award chosen by the President. It was intended " to recognize people who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to (1) the security or national interests of the United States, or (2) world peace, or (3) cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”[4]"
However, the evaluation of what is a meritorious contribution is up to the President at the time.
So a sitting fuck nugget can choose to award it to any fucker he wants for any reason. The curation will spell out why it was awarded to that individual.
So 1 orange turd poisons the well. I would say the award has merit depending on who chose it. A respectable President chooses meritorious reasons, the award is meaningful. A shitsack gives the award, it carries the shit stink. That’s why Dolly Parton turned it down from Trump - twice.
From me to Dolly. I don’t know jack about country music, but she seems like a good soul, and she spoke properly to corrupt power.

Dolly has probably dealt with sleazebags like Trump her whole life. Worthless con men who prey on anyone who will fall for their BS, but especially women who they see as objects and victims to prey upon. And despite being a country music star, she isn’t conservative; she has long been an advocate of the LGBTQ+ community.
She also turned down a nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, because she felt she hadn’t earned it. As flamboyant and outspoken as she is, she can be surprisingly humble.
With all of that, I’m not shocked at all that she turned down a medal from Trump.
Just one more reason to love and respect her.

I wonder what the back story is about him offering it twice. I guess what they said about him last night at the DNC was correct, he doesn’t listen when a woman says “no”.
One of the people Bill Clinton awarded to medal to was Marjorie Stoneman Douglas – she was 103 years old at the time.
That’s why she released a rock’n’roll album last(?) year.
One album, does not make a rock star. And, my hope is she just rubbed his face in that medal.
Not that Trump would understand it. He has been laughed at his entire life. He certainly does not understand subtilty, irony, sarcasm. His ‘form’ of humor is mocking others. That’s pretty much it.
