Even that is giving him to much credit. He KNOWS he is the smartest man on earth. He’s not making assumptions.
It’s the Dunning-Kruger effect turned up to 11.

Did anybody else hear about this Pearl Harbor thing? Nobody ever knew about this big, beautiful battle that happened back in 1941. Lots of lives lost, terrible, terrible thing, but also beautiful. Had something to do with World War II.
More than “just months”, about ten months after VJ-Day – because his father had just returned from combat and had a joyous reunion with ShitGibbon’s mother. Make of that what you will.
After her doctor had told her not to have any more kids. Or was that after Donald? Anyway, she was apparently an invalid for much of her later adult life, mainly due to childbirth issues.
It is old, but I had not seen it before
And I’ll say this: that was kind of weird, giving it a bad-luck name like “Pearl Harbor.” You know how “Pearl Harbor” almost means sneak attack, right? So, in a way, they were sort of asking for it.
But, if the school isn’t West Point, USAFA, or Annapolis Naval Academy, isn’t a “military academy” just an up-gunned private school/Boy Scout hybrid with no link to the gov’t and military? Couldn’t such a place theoretically be a chef’s academy or basket-weaving institute with uniforms and drill added to the mix?
The Coast Guard and the Merchant Marine academies would like to differ.
The United States service academies, also known as United States military academies, are federal academies for the undergraduate education and training of commissioned officers for the United States Armed Forces.
There are five U.S. service academies:
- The United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, New York, founded in 1802
- The United States Naval Academy (USNA) in Annapolis, Maryland, founded in 1845
- The United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in New London, Connecticut, founded in 1876
- The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) in Kings Point, New York, founded in 1943
- The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, founded in 1954
ETA: The Citadel has also produced lots of officers and seems like basically a service academy in practice, although I don’t know much about it.
Trump has taken to using profanity now, calling Harris a “shit vice president” in a recent rally. He also thought it was appropriate to talk about Arnold Palmer’s penis size.
The people I’ve met from there are either 3-letter agency scum or straight up felons.
Not that there’s a big difference.
I bet you he claims he was talkng about Palmer’s putter.
Wouldn’t Palmer’s driver be more “appropriate”? Although, on the other hand, the putter is what gets it in the hole.
I assumed that, but wasn’t sure if, there was a Coast Guard academy. Wrt Merchant Marine, consider me corrected. Regardless, they fall into my previously mentioned category of “real” academies. And notwithstanding all that, my point was that, outside of those, AIUI, there’s a whole slew of military academies as well, some of which wouldn’t necessarily guarantee the learning of what “Pearl Harbor was all about”.
So which academy did Trump go to?
I was paraphrasing a very old urban legend (SNOPES) about when Arnold Palmer was on the Tonight Show:
The story goes that during a Tonight Show appearance, Arnold Palmer was asked by Johnny Carson if he had any good-luck rituals. The golfer replied, “Yes, my wife kisses my balls.” To which Carson supposedly quipped, “I’ll bet that makes your putter stand out”.
Trump went to a military high school, AFAIK. For college, he went to Fordham and then, supposedly with the help of his brother’s friend in the admissions office, transferred to Penn.
Trump likes to brag about “going to Wharton”, Penn’s business school. But as I understand it, saying you went to Wharton in the business world implies you have an MBA from there, which Trump does not. When you ask a doctor or lawyer where they went to school, they don’t say their undergraduate school.
Virginia Military Institute is also a mighty fine school which produces many officers. My father and one of my older brothers graduated from VMI.
A number of states in the US have military and maritime academies at the college level.
Military school was a disciplinary tool and is what parents used to threaten their children with. My stepfather used to do that to me when I was about ten years old. My mother finally told him to knock it off.
I’m sure that’s the case of a number of people; however, not for everyone. There are those who wish to attend the places.
