Especially when I kind of skimmed over the “being in a shower” part on the first read, I had to re-read that post to verify it wasn’t presenting a different kind of scenario.
Somebody famous, I can’t remember if it was Jung or Freud, said that his best ideas came to him in “bed, bath, or bus,” so you’re in good company. (Though presumably not actually in the company of dead people IN the shower.)
Hey! You shower how you want, and I’ll shower how I want.
Based on a recommendation in the “Light Reading” thread, I bought Squeeze Me by Carl Hiaasen. Although not by name, characters strongly resembling Trump (especially) and Melania are portrayed. Mara Lago, too. I finished it a couple of days ago and, when hearing or thinking about some crazy Trumpy behavior, am already having a hard time remembering if it was real or fictional. Sad. Very sad. Also funny. Highly recommended.
a good read indeed.
But just like the Onion’s conundrum, the previous administration was whackier than anything they, or Hiaasen, could dream up.
Not surprising. Also not surprising that there will be no consequences for DJT.
I wonder if he hid the nuclear football at Mar-a-Lago thinking it was a real football?
And how did he feel when his close personal friend Tom Brady passed on signing it?
The Secret Service just carried an actual football for CFSG to fondle. No actual codes or controls were in the briefcase.
I love it! A dummy football with dummy codes for The Dummy President! Perfect.
Paint it glow-in-the-dark green and glue a couple of dials onto it. Maybe a couple of holographic stickers.
There may be fairly immediate consequences for Merrick Garland, if not for Donald: the confirmation that classified documents were taken in violation of the relevant laws will generate a great deal of interest in the question ‘will the Department of Justice initiate an investigation of this matter?’
Granted, we might not be able to see confirmation that such an investigation has been undertaken by DOJ. But in the fullness of time, if it becomes clear that Garland gave Trump a pass, that will certainly have consequences for Garland’s reputation (and post-DOJ life).
In the meantime, the questions about Garland’s willingness to hold Trump accountable for his lawless conduct will continue to be asked.
Going back to the ruling yesterday, I am most amused by Trump’s attorneys claiming that he is being discriminated against as part of a “protected class”. The judge’s response was epic. He basically said that being a “bad guy” is not a protected class.
Lock him up.
Enough gall to be divided into three parts.
He could’ve been anything he wanted to be
He took the easy way out
With little training, he mastered complaining
Manners seemed unnecessary
He’s so rude, it’s almost scary
That is one shitty lawyer to try that horse shit.
Or he knows his client is going to lose, hasn’t got anything reasonable to plead to try and get him off, so begins reaching for anything - you know: argue the facts if you have the facts, the law if you have the law, pound the table otherwise.
“She,” actually, I think. If I remember right, she’s one of these little adoring Trumpbots that appear on rightwing TV constantly, telling them anything they want to hear, however improbable or in some cases, impossible it is to believe.
