NY Times: “Trump, without citing evidence, blames DEI and Democrats for plane crash. President Trump’s remarks, suggesting that diversity requirements and other policies somehow caused the collision of a passenger jet and an Army helicopter near Washington…”
There are no words.
Oh, wait, here’s some: FUCKING ASSHOLE. Not a SINGLE IOTA of compassion. How about “My heart goes out to the victims’ families”? GODDAMNED FUCKING SHITWAD.
Please have a link to a transcript of this part! Seriously, I cannot force myself to listen to even one syllable he utters. Listening to the whole thing would be torture.
I want to ask you about the ice skaters in a moment because the U.S. Ice Skating committee was affected, but first, if I can, the cited FAA tax that you read is real, but the implications that this policy is new or that it stems from efforts that began under President Biden nor the transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg is demonstrably false. It’s been on the FAA’s website-
I did change it. I changed the Obama policy and we had a very good policy and then Biden came in and he changed it and then when I came in two days, three days ago, I signed a new order bringing it to the highest level of intelligence. Okay.
I just watched the NTSB briefing (mind you it’s only now 5:30 a.m. where I am (vacationing in Seoul) now. The chairwoman responded to a question I didn’t hear. Her response was that she and her team would not speculate. A follow-on question to her response was about Trump’s comment about the cause of the crash. Chairwoman Homendy responded, without mentioning Trump, that, again, she and her team would not speculate, but would base their findings on evidence after examining “the people, the machines, and the environment”. The most important part of her reply was that it is irresponsible to speculate.
You know full well that Trump will start chucking ketchup bottles left and right now that an independent agency’s chairwoman called him irresponsible and implied he’s ignorant of facts.
BBC News had a republican strategist named Mark Terrill on right now. That flack was justifying Trump’s comments, all of them, and just now stated Trump is "very honest, very transparent*.
Another person on, I think his name is Kurt Vaidel (didn’t see the spelling, and just heard the name at the end) lit into the flack. The following quote is to the best of my recollection.
The family members of those who died in this accident deserve factual, accurate determination of what happened and not the free riffing opinions of the leader of the free world, opions because he does not like diversity.
I bet he doesn’t want to talk about them because he doesn’t like Poles.
The thing that has Donald dancing so hard to the ‘this happened because of FAA employing amputees and dwarfs’ tune (really!) is that the Jan 22 action you link to RESULTED IN FEWER AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS the night of the crash.
Not to mention Elon pushing out the FAA administrator:
The extent to which the FAA and all associated services were short-staffed due to Donald being all obsessed with white-male-only staffing, is yet to be nailed down.
But Donald has to be dreading having that information come out.
I was wondering, too. “Wet the sponges” to me conveys a reference to The Green Mile (in which a sadistic guard basically tortured a man being executed by electrocution, by neglecting to wet the sponge that normally goes on the prisoner’s head.) But I could be wrong about that.
(“Poles” in that context would be something to do with the electricity going through the condemned person’s body, maybe.)
