I’ve realized I’ve been having a succession of Bad Days. I was diagnosed with MDD about five years ago, and it was being successfully managed since then.
Yesterday, I realized The Weight was back. I’d allowed myself to forget how it felt to be roboticly drug through life. I haven’t had any intrusive thoughts… yet.
This fucking administration and its continuous bullshit is the cause, I’m sure. And now we have an idiot Sec. of the DHHS who wants to outlaw the medications keeping me alive and round up people like me.
Fuck Trump, fuck RFK Jr, aand fuck the people who put them in office.
Trump has launched a self-promoting series of ads for “Make America Fentanyl Free”. Which sounds good except it’s clearly just a way to justify his unceasing attack on immigrants and tariff policies.
Not to mention that it has a lot of misinformation in it as well.
He is renaming the DOD the War Department. Because he wants to be known as the President who stopped all the wars and earned a Nobel Peace Prize. I seriously sometimes think he may be one of the dumbest people in existence.
I do like “Minitrue” from “1984” but I can’t recall if the education system - if there was even such a thing, beyond basic literacy - was named in the book.
I imagine it would be a mere minor sub-department of Minitrue.
The one thing Orwell got wrong, is the singular figure of Goldstein towards whom the daily hate could be directed. In Trumpland, there is plenty of hate to touch a diverse range of subjects.
(Though, I would not at all be suprised if people with a surname ending in “..stein” are soon in the firing line, too.)
They were responsible for the content of educational books, so I think that makes them at least part of the education system, if not fully responsible for education.
Given the impersonal nature of society in the book, I’d guess they would rely heavily on remote learning through “tele-programmes”. (Which were also part of the Ministry of Truth.)
