Certainly - but they’re supposed to do their very best not to, and to decide if the defendant is guilty or not guilty based only upon the law and the facts, not their emotions. And a jury doesn’t “decid[e] the fate” of a defendant, if by that you mean sentencing. Sentencing is the judge’s responsibility.
A jury can recommend a sentence in some cases, but regardless, I’d argue that convicting or acquitting is determining a person’s fate far more than sentencing does. A jury can declare that a person is completely free and clear, while a judge has sentencing guidelines to adhere to.
Not an unreasonable point of view. But if you, or a loved one, were on trial, would you still “like the idea of a contemptuous, vindictive jury”? I wouldn’t, not ever, even if the person I hated most in the entire world was in the dock.

It’s a problem when dealing elderly relatives. Both my mother and my aunt are losing their grasp, and it’s painful to see. We don’t let either of them drive, and they have near constant assistance from home health aides. My mother is still managing her own money, and I worry about it.
I’d never dream of letting her run a country, and I think she’s more compos than Trump is.

I wrote an email to the US Defense Dept re: their threatening Nigeria yesterday. Trump and Hegseth were making a bum rap about violence against Christians there. There have been no apparent increases in violence there, if they bothered to research Nigerian events and trends.
