Elderly narcissist makes up a weak national security excuse to invade a much less powerful neighbor to grab their natural resources. He escalates totally without concern for international opinion, or the lives lost in the invaded nation and even his own military. Doing so ruins productive security agreements with allies, and creates mistrust from the rest of the world, setting his nation back decades, even risking any perceived economic advances he claims to have accomplished. Of course I’m talking about Putin, right? Right…?
The great thing about piracy is that you only have to worry about the Pirate Code, and, “The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.”
He threatens the ICC (International Criminal Court). He threatens veterans in Congress who remind the military about their obligations. He threatens the NY Times for questioning his health. Who is HE?
None other than Don Snoreleone!
The Trump Gold Card has gone on sale. This thing is obscene on so many levels it’s disgusting.
At a time when Trump is turning away people from s–thole countries and actively deporting them, this gives him a way to get RICH people (even from s–thole countries) to give money to the US and get in.
It’s an official US government document, but it’s got his picture and name on it. There’s a long history of not putting living presidents on US currency (which Trump ignored recently with his Trump coin), and the onus is extended to things like stamps. But Trump, of course, doesn’t give a damn.
Naturally, it’s a GOLD card.
As the Maddowblog notes:
As for the amount of money the program is expected to generate, the administration hasn’t offered any details (at least not lately), though earlier this year the president told reporters that, by his estimation, the program could generate “$50 trillion.”
In related news, this guy really isn’t good at math.
But that’s hardly the only problem. A Bloomberg News report, for example, noted that international law enforcement agencies have warned that programs like these “facilitate criminal activity and are riddled with corruption.” The same report added, “The European Commission, the EU’s executive branch, has warned for years that golden visa programs expose the bloc to money laundering and security risks.”
Isn’t the United States almost unique in taxing world wide income of its citizens? Given that, why would a wealthy person want to acquire American citizenship rather than that of a tax haven?
In other words, “Did you say anything naughty about Trump? Do you not love and adore him? Did you ever DARE to say you don’t love him?”
I’m really not on ‘Social Media’ at all. Except here I guess. No FB, no Instagram or whatever the X BS is. But it would be impossible to round up the information.
You’re expecting sensible, well considered policy?
But on a more practical note, I would the ones taking this option are looking for just the visa part for whatever reason (children born here, rich people wanting convenience, whatever). And probably include a fair number of people used to blatant corruption with no real intention of declaring their true incomes to the IRS, also ignoring that the IRS itself has been hobbled with respect to tax enforcement of the wealthy
An environmental group on Wednesday filed a lawsuit challenging the National Park Service’s plan to emblazon President Trump’s face on some annual passes to national parks starting Jan. 1.
The suit, filed in federal court in the District of Columbia by the Center for Biological Diversity, argued that it would violate federal law to put Mr. Trump’s visage on some of the passes, which have traditionally featured photos of scenic landscapes and wildlife.
“Blotting out the majesty of America’s national parks with a close-up of his own face is Trump’s crassest, most ego-driven action yet,” Kierán Suckling, the executive director of the Center for Biological Diversity, told the Times.
And that’s what a narcissist thinks about. I don’t have a pass (got a county parks pass) but I would refuse anything with his ugly treasonous mug on it. I certainly would not carry it or keep it in my car.
I’m not a huge patriot or anything, the USA screws up plenty. But electing this … thing is so over the top that I just don’t know what to say.
The good news is that many decent folks will say no. The bad news is that Trump supporters will go destroy the parks.
Yep. SunWife and I get one every year, and this year we bought one that expires in September of next year.
But when we heard about this little stunt we bought another one last week that will take us through 2026. Because I could not stand the thought of having the guy’s mug on anything in my wallet.
And hopefully the suit will keep him from doing it again next year. (Who am I kidding? Some circuit court will take the appeal, schedule arguments for sometime next fall, and then find it moot when January 1, 2027 rolls around - meanwhile, his suckups in the Interior Department will declare his picture to have made the pass a huge success and put it on the 2027 passes as well.)
