Yes, I fear you’re right. US aid has been crucial to Ukraine’s brave resistance so far. Whether Europe can take up the slack remains to be seen. (Especially if Donald, as one can’t help suspecting, starts sending weapons and other aid to VLAD.)
In the UN today, on the resolution to condemn Russian aggression in Ukraine, the US sided with Russia.

I’m pretty sure the “plan” Is to have Ukraine sigh it’s mineral wealth to US billionaires and have Russia pull out (to the 2020 borders only if absolutely necessary) and have European peacekeepers go into Ukraine. Then, as soon as elections can take place, a Right Wing Putin Puppet (RWPP) will be elected and Zelenskyy will be out.
Then, with the RWPP installed, he will kick the peacekeepers out and kiss Putin’s ring. Russia gets the land, the US billionaires get the wealth. Win-Win (except for the concept of Democracy).
And at every single speech and rally he ever does from now on, Trump will brag about how he stopped the war.
Ukraine should offer Trump full access to all the rare earth deposits currently held by the Russians.
