I’d probably put myself at a 4 or 5, but that’s just because I’m fat – without the weight I think I’d be a solid 6-7.
But, as DianaG said, personality must add at least a point or two, because I get more attention than I figure most fat chicks do … and, if I say so myself, most of the guys I’ve hooked up with have been hotter than me.

I’m old and obese, so I feel way closer to the Gilbert Gottfried side on the attractiveness scale. When I was younger it was probably somewhere towards the middle. At least women didn’t hide when they saw me coming. Today, though, I recently had a woman tell me I would be good looking if I lost weight. ::sigh!:: There’s about as much chance of that as of my winning the Lotto.
I think I’m about a 6 or maybe 7 regardless of what I do or don’t do. Plus I have age spots! Who the hell has age spots at my age?!
Based strictly on physical properties, I think that at my ultimate physical best (never achieved in actuality), I could maybe be a 7.5. But I am not at my best; I’m weak, inflexible, I lack endurance, and I am unhealthily overweight. (An exercise program, plus learning to cook in a different and healthier way, will hopefully alleviate this.) I would say that, physically, I am a 6.
However…
Upthread, DianaG mentioned that one’s overall hotness rating is not just about static looks: it’s also about “carriage and personality”. I would add social skills to that.
In my earlier days, when I was physically in better shape, my social skills were far worse, and in combination with lack of physical ease and motion, probably degraded me to about a 3.5 or a 4.
After 15 years of learning and effort, these skills have improved a LOT. Based on an incident a week and a half ago, where all unsuspectingly I managed to impress the hostess of the B&B my friends were staying at, I’d say that, socially, I might be able to reach an 8.
(I’m not actually sure what a social skills hotness of 10 would be like, but I have a few guesses. Able to listen to and talk with any other person, make them feel at ease, perhaps, while remaining at ease oneself. I call a lot of this “diplomatic” skills. But of course these are not captured in a still photograph.)
I’m way hot. There’s no A/C here and it’s 85 degrees and 74% humidity.
On a scale of 0-10 though, looks-wise I’m a 2. Personality-wise, a 9

I never thought I was much to look at, but apparently a lot of women disagree. I used to think it was a combination of my wit, personality, and social skills, but I’ve picked up attraction vibes from far too many women whom I haven’t had a chance to talk to for that to be the only explanation. Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem to come through in photographs.
If I had to pick a number, I’d say 7.5-8.

I think I’m a solid 7 – zaftig and well-over-40 though I am (or maybe because I am).

That’s all that matters, baby. Unless it’s one of those, “oh my god, what about sheep, are there sheep,” situations, I think that situational hotness counts fully towards your score.
