how is Jon & Kate + 8 + Jon's bimbo + Kate's bodyguard doing in the ratings?

Just wondering how that show is doing, post-upheaval? I know Mrs Piper has stopped watching it.

My wife who has probably seen every episode said she stopped watching halfway through the (battleship?) episode and took it off her TIVO recordings.
Said she got sick of Kate poining out and making comments about the paparazzi.

This story from the beginning of August says the ratings dropped 61% after the hiatus.

The battleship one is the last one I remember seeing as well. I also thought she was pretty tacky in that one.

The 61% drop in ratings seems pretty significant.

It’s not a shocker that ratings have dropped drastically since the beginning of the season. I’m sure lots of people who never watched the show before tuned in for the divorce annoucement and then quickly lost interest. I’d be curious how this season’s ratings compare to last season. It seems as if a lot of regular viewers are turned off by this continuing exploitation of the kids, no matter what kind of contractual obligations they might be under.

It’s called jumping the shark… :stuck_out_tongue:

For once, I feel good about humanity.

I’m not surprised by the ratings drop. The show has simply become terrible.

The first couple seasons were actually interesting (if a bit grating), since the show actually detailed the difficulty of raising such a huge family. It was (kinda) interesting to watch them deal with the logistics while trying to actually be parents.

The last season or so before the breakup was simply a nonstop parade of “special outings” and pseudo-celebrity indulgence.

Post-breakup, I simply have no idea why the show is supposed to be worth watching. There’s no parenting dynamics, since there’s only one parent at a time and they’re very consciously not addressing family issues. It’s literally become a show of parading around with the tots, complaining about overexposure on one’s own reality show, and ignoring anything “real.”

So, do you think they’ll do an episode on Jon’s Vegas party?

Well, we have an answer: It’s now [del]Jon &[/del] Kate Plus Eight.

And the famewhores march on…

This show is dead and gone after this season if it even makes it that far.

Won’t somebody please think of the children?

Could you fill me in on that episode and what makes it so tacky? The Soup often shows a clip of her wearing a popcorn box on her head, crowing “Come and get your popcorn!” What the heck was going on there?

Needless to say, I don’t watch the show, but love hearing about train wrecks second-hand.

IIRC, in the battleship episode she had the kids man one of the deck guns and tried to aim it at the papparazzi on the pier. What’s tacky about it is she spends a lot of time talking to the camera that follows her around everywhere, complaining about the other cameras that follow her around everywhere. In a previous episode, she even said something to the camera like “What’s so fascinating about us? They should find another family to follow around.” So apparently her irony meter was located somewhere in the mounds of extra belly skin she had removed a few years ago.
