Cafeteria Muslims, eh? Actually, that makes perfect sense. I suspect the percentage of strict, by-the-book, no-exceptions Muslims (living outside of theocratic states) is about the same as every other religion. Which is to say, not a majority, not even close.
Again, what has anything in the OP got to do with free speech?
There a bunch of things that lead to the Taliban being in charge of Afghanistan again and in a position to stone women to death. While definitely worth a debate absolutely none of those things have anything to do with free speech.
Was the US decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan motivated by a desire to allow the Taliban to speak freely and not have their constitutional rights to extremist speech unduly restricted by the presence of US troops?
Was the ultimate success of the Taliban under US occupation caused by the US-backed government being too liberal about the right of free speech?
How does free speech and tolerance factor into this in the slightest?
I seriously doubt it’s any more possible to live 100% by the Qur’an and Hadith than it is to live 100% by the Bible.
I already explained that to you.
I would like you to be deported. Go back to where you came from.
Better yet, let’s send him to the Moon, because he is obviously of Lunatic heritage.
You know what? There is no thinking at all with this person. Think of it as the ramblings of the drunk in a bar who has just pissed his pants. That’s essentially what we’ve got here.
Speaking as a lunatic, I want to stay in Phillly- we have a four story heart, the Mutter Museum, Van Goghs and Mummers!
ETA- and Magic Gardens, and the Zipperheard Building (purple facade with giant zippers and giant ants)
“Adhering to all the tenets of Islam”, or of the Latter-Day Saints, is totally fine. No reason to expect such a person to drink alcohol, skive off Ramadan, or work on holidays. Fucking with other people is not OK, but that goes for anybody.
Oh, no you don’t! Where I come from, whoever touched it last, it’s their fault. He’s your problem.
< Throws him across the border >
You touched him last! No punchbacks!
Not to mention, the only city yet to have a courtroom in one its major sports stadiums. Ah, good times!
Oh and we have Gritty!
Who said that progressives do that?
Viewing Islam in an equally lenient light as Christianity is not remotely the same thing.
Hindus can be bigots just like anybody else. They’re just somewhat less likely to be bigoted against Hindus.
There are bigots all over the world. Unfortunate, but true. Not everyone in Florida or Texas is a bigot. Where you live has nothing to do with what you’re spouting. I will however retract the suggestion that you may be spouting it because of being a fundamentalist Christian; though you may still be listening to what they’re saying. Or you may be listening to Hindus in India attacking Muslims, while behaving terribly themselves (those specific Hindus, not Hindus in general.) Doesn’t matter where you’re getting this shit from; it’s still shit – no, worse than shit. Shit makes good fertilizer. Bigotry doesn’t make good anything.
So are you going to ship my great-niece to China, Israel, Poland, or Russia?
And you do realize that you’re talking of deporting 95+% of the population? Who do you think is going to do the deporting?
And do you realize that there are Muslims in India who are at least as native there as you are?
I mean, even aside from this being filthy bigotry, there’s no way for it to even work.
Yup. It is in our DNA.
And we’re an outcrossing species. That’s in our DNA too. When we encounter strangers, sometimes we kill them. (We kill a lot of people we know, too.) And almost always we have sex with them; and children with them.
There are no “pureblooded” humans. It’s just a question of how many generations back you look. And that is rarely as many generations as the people who want to think that they’re all one ethnicity are assuming; most places in the world, and damn near anywhere in the Americas, by the time you get back to great-great-grandma, if not sooner, somebody else has got in there; even if the family history conveniently decided not to mention them.
But even the known family history, in the Americas, is likely to include two or three continents (and significantly more countries) by the time you go back that far; sometimes more.
And there are plenty of Muslims who don’t drink alcohol and do observe Ramadan who also don’t go around stealing and raping children. Just like there are plenty of Christians who actually observe the Sabbath and do or don’t drink alcohol according to their particular sect but who don’t feel any need to stone their adulterous neighbors in the public square. Or even in private. And there are observant Hindus who don’t feel a need to murder their Muslim neighbors. And so on.
I would like to go out on a limb here and say please Do not feed the troll any further.
I bumped this new poster up to the modloop earlier today and I think they’re being fairly obvious about what they are. Even the username smells of under the bridge.
I would like to state this very clearly, I do not mean the OP, I mean the recently joined user that has become the focus of this thread.
Just FYI, if Mohammad is prepubescent, he’s not required to fast (lots of kids do, though, for various reasons).
Progressives don’t need to blood-libel entire religions the way conservatives do.
I understand you might think that, because conservatives cannot tolerate even the mildest criticism of Christian misdeeds without feeling they’ve been physically crucified, and demanding that we talk about “what about those other guys”, but most other people don’t see it that way.
That kind of intolerance is pretty similar to the Taliban.
So you mean you want me to go back to Detroit or India since I’m of Indian descent. I can speak Hindi not fluently with an accent but adjust in India pretty well.
