I don’t get it. All night long they’ve been showing who wins which state based on electoral votes. Now we’re waiting for every last ballot in Florida to be counted?

Okay, now I’m hearing that they don’t vote until they know the popular vote. I guess I didn’t understand that part of it. I thought they had already voted.
Deb
It seems like an eternity. And some of the stations are saying we won’t know for days.

The Electoral College votes Dec. 18th. Each state gets a certain number of votes in it, equal to the size of its total congressional delegation. Florida gets 25 votes. Last night, the people (all registered voters in the country) voted for who they wanted to get those votes.
Short story, the people of Florida voted for which candidate gets Florida’s 25 votes. Yeah, it’s a screwy system, but don’t it make things interesting?
I heard on the news this morning that it could take up to 10 days to get the final count of the Florida popular vote. Apparently Florida has a law that allows absentee ballots to be received and counted for up to 10 days after Election Day. I think that it was put into law for the benefit of sailors and Navy personnel.
