It really depends on what you mean by guys being interested in it; there’s historical documentation of what we’d call ‘hot lesbian action’ going back to ancient harems, but it doesn’t appear to be something that the average man on the street would be exposed to. I’ve seen vintage porn (old B&W film that would probably have been passed around on reel tape) that involves FF scenes, so it’s definitely not a modern invention. From what I remember it was a niche thing on VHS tapes in the 80s, but by the 90s started being a significant part of the standard package targeted at straight guys. The appeal of it seems pretty obvious; you get to see women without some guy’s junk on the screen and don’t have to feel inadequate comparing yourself to the male actor.
Conventional FF porn is made with female porn stars who may or may not be interested in other women but are willing to act like they are for money. For that matter, a lot of MM porn is made with actors who aren’t actually interested in other men, but Viagra and the prospect of cash can be much more effective than actual interest. If you google ‘ff porn targeted at women’ you’ll get links to articles about it and some sites to look at.
