How long have guys been interested in"hot lesbian action"?

I was a teenager during the 1970s. I don’t remember any of my contemporaries being interested in seeing girls make out or have sex. (They just wanted to have sex with the girls, themselves, for some odd reason.) I never encountered this particular kink until I watched Howard Stern. Now, that guy had a definite lesbian fetish, for sure!

Now, I do realize that I have led a quite sheltered life, so feel free to inform me – have guys always been interested in “hot lesbian action”? Or is it a recent development? Any info will be appreciated.

It is the wrong comparison to compare pornography to having sex: instead the comparison you should be talking about is male-female sex pornography vs female-female sex pornography vs single female pornography.

I think it quite likely you saw very little video pornography as a teen in the 1970s: instead you probably only saw only Playboy/Hustler/Penthouse (and other sex magazines and paperbacks) type non-video pornography and R-rated movies. So maybe the interest in “hot lesbian action” among teens only happened with the general availability of video cassettes.

I have never really been into that but one time in a bar I saw an oder woman maybe late 40’s seduce a younger mid 20’s on the dance floor. The younger girl was caught off guard and was so into it by the time she realized what was going on she couldn’t stop. They were dancing to " Romeo and Juliet" One of the hottest things I have ever witnessed. The girl was drenched in sweat and the eye contact was intense.

Being old enough to have been in “Adult” bookstores in the 1970’s, there were a fair amount of books/films even then featuring lesbians, so it is a kink* that apparently a lot of men like to scratch (never ever saw a female in those stores buying lesbian porn). Something about two girls together just does something to the male psyche/libido, IMHO (doesn’t have to be lesbian; see wrestling, oil).

I have my own kinks, thank you, and they will remain mine.

It dates back at least to the Middle Ages. I have an uncensored version of “Arabian Nights”*, which has a couple of girl-girl scenes. The sex happens offstage, but the hints about it are pretty broad.

I think the appeal is that, if you see two women going at it, you can fantasize about yourself jumping in to make it a threesome.

In the immortal words of Adam Corolla:

*Specifically, The Book of the Thousand Nights and One Night, edited by J.C. Mardrus and E.P. Mathers, published by Routledge

I think it dates back to the stone age, although I can’r really prove it. When Og stumbled into a cave and saw two cave women touching each other do you think he wasn’t turned on? Two women at the same time?

I don’t know…when was the second woman created?

I feel that it is mostly a stereotype, one in which many men feel obligated to say it’s hot. But they dont really feel that strongly about it.

This. They’re hot, they’re having sex, they obviously have no inhibitions, so it’s the sexual equivalent of finding $100 bill on the sidewalk.

I think another big part of it is that there isn’t another guy. We don’t have to compare ourselves to him or be taken out of the fantasy by recognizing it’s not us. If the girls are doing each other, we can quickly switch the fantasy of being one to the other without worrying about another guy

Wow! Excellent point! Never considered that perspective, before.

Time Immemorial? Or even sooner!

I think the psychology involved is fairly simple; women + sex = good, therefor two women acting sexually together is good.

Note that there’s quite a few straight women fond of erotica & romance about male/male relationships; probably for the same reasons, just gender-flipped.

Despite being heavily involved in a lesbian-themed porn website for many years, I don’t particularly like watching women make out. Which is not to say I don’t like women frolicking together in states of undress, it’s just the making out part I have no particular interest in.

However, frustratingly I am more attracted to tomboy-types who are more likely to be lesbian. This has led to much dashing of hopes.

Another plus: it gets all that boring “foreplay” stuff out of the way. The two women can get each other warmed up for you and then you can just jump in whenever you’re ready!

(Actually I have zero interest in the Hot GOGA thing. My thinking is “They’re clearly enjoying each other immensely - what do they need me for?”)

I can honestly say that, when I was a nerdy, lonely, horny teen in the 70s, practically anything related to girls would turn me on. But it never even occurred to me that girls could make out with other girls, much less that seeing this would be a turn on.

Once that BECAME a popular porn theme, sure enough, it WAS a turn on. But if porn didn’t exist, I would never have KNOWN it was a turn on.

I am not interested, either, since I am a bit of a “specialist” (very specific fetish). I was just curious about the lesbian thing. All the responses have been informative!

Simple answer. As long as there have been two hot lesbians. (Can you imagine the frustration of being the first lesbian?)

But of course, men don’t lust after kd lang or Martina Navratilova. They lust after fantasy girls who (mostly) aren’t really lesbians (but play them on TV).

In the early 1990s, when I was in college, I worked with a straight guy who shared a house with several other people, including a lesbian. One night, he came home from work and she and several of her very butch lesbian friends were watching a lesbian porno movie.

This was obviously prior to the creation of Rule 34, because he had no idea such a thing even existed. :smack: I’m not the only person who told him that if people do it, especially sexually, someone’s filmed it.

BTW, from what little I’ve seen of it, girl-girl porn is made with straight women.
