At work…
I’ve sent twelve, received twenty-two.
Today has been busier than average.
What about you?

49 in
45 out
Slow day for me, and I’ve got 45 minutes left here (unless I bail now). I was sick for 2 days & had 175 in the inbox when I got back. And I hardly ever get junk / spam emails.
Typically it’s about 100 in, 50 out.
10 out. Don’t know how many in, because I delete the crap ones as soon as they pop up. “Please approve this system change” “The car detailers are on property” “Buy tickets now for the random entertainment of the month” “This system will be down saturday night”
In the area of 170 in and 60-90 out per day.
About five years ago, someone decided that Exchange was more important to the business than the ATMs. :dubious:
ETA:
Oh good heavens, I’m so glad we have good spam filters!
Current figures are that 90-95% of all email is spam these days.
75 in - 12 out.
Oh, noooooo, those aren’t spam, those are legitimate emails sent by employees of the company! Some of them are even work related!
12/10. Pretty much par for the course.
I suspect a lot of the communication that would be an email in most offices becomes a “memo to file” or a note on our billing system here.
43 in (so far), 17 out. It’s a lighter than average day, but within the range of normal.
I’d say at least half of my job is conducted by email or IM.
About 110-120 in, 50 out, all of which were legitimate e-mails. We’re in the process of developing a product and I’m a subject matter expert. Plus there are the other four products I work on for which I’m SME.
About 70 in, 45 out, and it’s been a light day.
Next week will be fun. It’s quarter end, and the emails and reports will be flying.
None out (which is unusual, I normally have to send at least 5), but 10 in – of which only 3 pertained to actual work stuff, the others were all either about the flipping fundraisers (company sponsored) or other crap that just got deleted. Simultaneously good and bad for my sanity, I and the 4-man IT department are the only actually computer-savvy people in this joint.
58 in, not counting what goes in my junk folder.
22 out.
None. It’s Good Friday morning, a public holiday. I’ve just turned on the computer. There are no emails in my Inbox.
Less than 10 each. I’m too lazy to do an accurate count.
zero in/ zero out.
You have to love vacations.
Pretty typical, about 100 in and 150 out.
hm, slow day for incoming work - only 77. Outgoing is about normal, 210. Personal email incoming about 70, outgoing 22 - havent really gotten into returning answers yet.
About 120 in at work and about 35 out. I have actual work to do directing 40 people in India and on-shore as a development manager as well as being a developer and subject matter expert on the really hard stuff myself. At some point during the day, I just stop responding to people altogether whether it is via e-mail, phone, or even in person.
I have to although I get a stern talking about this from upper-level management about this behavior about once a month. I usually ask them if they want me to talk about work endlessly or actually do it. Many of my coworkers are great communicators yet they don’t produce anything tangible. When I ask the directors about what they think is most important, they are usually stopped cold. Oddly enough, they usually emphasize communication yet give little attention about how this will get the actual job done. I just stick with what I am good at and what will produce tangible results instead of clusterfucks (which could be fun because my coworkers are mostly young females).
