I walk to my writing partner’s place. He lives across the street, so it’s about a 20 second walk. Maybe 30 seconds if I have to wait for traffic to cross the street (it’s not really a busy street). So, about a minute, roundtrip.
According to Mapquest, it is about 65 miles RT. But, I take the train to work so I’m not driving it. I live about 2 miles from the train station, and then walk about .75 miles to work after arriving at Union Station.
14 blocks. 1.1 miles (plus 65 yards), according to Streets & Trips. I sometimes hear only ads on the radio. I COULD walk, but it is dangerous enough to DRIVE here, I wouldn’t last a week walking.
But it takes about 40 minutes one way, if I don’t have to wait for a train/street car. It’s a ten minute walk to the subway, a 15-20 minute train ride, and a ten minute walk to the office.
Driving would take about 20 minutes one way with all the traffic. Then I’d have to find a parking space. And who knows how long that would take.
About five or six minutes, roundtrip, by foot. It has increased by about a minute each way since they started building a house on what used to be a parking lot that was very handy for cutting across.
Depends on which entrance to the plant I use. Usually about 0.7 miles round trip (1.5 miles if I want to use the main entrance). If the weather is nice I walk.
I have no choice but to drive to work and back. But recently I’ve had a few doctor appointments in downtown L.A., so I’ve been taking the train from El Segundo where my job is, a distance of about 15 miles as the crow flies. The trains don’t go from El Segundo to downtown L.A. in a direct line, so that’s a considerably longer distance. However, the whole thing takes only an hour, and that’s on two trains and a bus. Yeah, it’s a lot longer than it would take to drive, but I love taking a break and bringing along a couple of books to read. It’s also nice to save on gas and parking.
