How many posts per page (your SDMB settings) fixed poll

So I have mine set to show 200 posts per page. Oddly, the default is 50 but 50 is not one of the available choices in the settings. What is yours set to? Also, does it bug you when people refer to what “page” of a thread something is on, since that is something that’s different for everyone because of their settings?

(For those who don’t know, you can change this setting under User CP > Edit Options)

I just set it to 100, which is what I prefer.

  1. I used to have to use dial-up frequently, so it was helpful to load as much as possible without switching pages in case I wanted to go back and refer to something, or else to load a few pages to read before getting offline.

  1. I hate multi-pages ( particularly in such online media articles that think one will will keep clicking *next *for 7 pages, each of which is about 100 words… ).
    And the second bit is quite annoying too.

By “the second bit” do you mean the part of the OP about people referring to page numbers?

The default (50?). I knew I could change it but I figure I’d rather read the same thing as most of the other people on the board and I assume that most people don’t bother changing it.

Well if you really like the default, don’t change it, because you can’t go back! 50 isn’t one of the options.

Mine is set at 200, thanks to What Exit?, who told me about the option years ago.

As for setting your option back to 50, Use Forum Default is one of the choices.

When I read a post that refers to “page whichever”, I assume the poster is talking in terms of 50 posts per page.

One hundred. I tried two hundred for a while, but it was too much.

I’m okay with it, it seems plenty and doesn’t make the quiet threads look so sad and empty.

Default. I’m used to about 20 posts per page from a previous forum (WoW), though that seems to inflate page counts rather quickly.

My last computer had some issues with 200 ppp. It would only show about 180 then I was unable to scroll any further. New computer and now back to 200.

I never thought to check to see if I could change it.

I used 200 for awhile, then went back to 50. The long mega-page seemed like a good idea, but I prefer having the threads broken into more manageable chunks.
