How many redheads on the Dope?

Checking in

Me

'nother redhead…natural.

MaggieTheCat , mine is sort of a gold-red too. It was a very dark red when I was little. Then it went more gold, and now as I get a little older is is going toward a darker red again, ever so gradually.

My eyes were blue until I was almost two years old. They they darkened to green and stayed there.

To look at me, there’s no doubt that I am a good Celtic lass

drool

Ok, someone smack me! I think I died and this thread is Heaven. And where’s all the photo cites, huh? Huh??

Yay for redheads!

And did I hear right, Gum has red hair and grey eyes? ~swoons~
Ahem, I mean…

~escapes~

Red head checking in. Completly natural of course.

Not a redhead, but my 11 yr old daughter is. And my sister, and two of her three children are. I guess you could say I have close associations with redheads.

Total redhead here! Medium copper, long and completely straight (hair).

Ok, question about ‘other’ hair - they don’t always match exactly do they? My eyebrows are light brown with a decided red cast, nothing like my head hair. Then again, my head has some interesting variations such as deep purple.

I like being technicolor!

me, too. Auburn with brown eyes -wish I was copper and green eyes.

As Mo said, I’m one. I’m on the coppery side, sort of auburn with blonde. At least I think I am. I’m natural and as I’ve gotten older, it’s gotten darker, but with more golden blonde which makes no sense, I realize. I look at those packages of hair color sometimes, and I’ll pick one out and think it’s my color and then hold the box to my hair or ask my daughter and inevitably I’m way off. Now that I think about it, the colors I tend to pick out match the carpet more than the curtain. Hmmmm, what does that say? Never mind, I don’t want to know. I never actually buy the stuff, but just in case I go gray overnight, I want to be prepared, you know.
My eyes are hazel-brown. They sort of match my hair. Although my hair is long and curly/wavy and my eyes aren’t.

Any other older redheads not going gray quickly? I’ve got a few here and there, but considering I’m in my 40’s, seems like there should be more. Maybe my birth certificate is way off and my mother never noticed.

Grey? No, I’m going blond as I age (and losing hair too, but that’s another story).

In my 40’s and I don’t see any gray hair yet, however since I have red and blonde hairs the grays could be disguised as blonde. Sometimes I think some of the ones around my hairline look a little gray. My sister was a red redhead all her life, she’s 8 years older than me and she’s only been going gray in the past few years, it seemed to coincide with helping raise her two grandchildren both under 4 years of age.

So, my question is:

Why are we taking all of this on faith? Cite?!

Yep. I’m almost 42, and I have but a few gray hairs, and you can’t tell unless you’re very close.
Cite.

I think I count as a redhead…

Deep irish blood in my roots, my mother is pale as a ghost, big green eyes, red hair she can’t fight, but she tries to dye it blond sometimes. She’s about as tall as an imp (or…er… a leprechaun, perhaps?)
I inherited her pale skin, absolutely no freckles, and was born strawberry blonde, but it grew darker and darker. However, many brands of shampoo, or any attempt to dye my hair will suddenly bring all the red flaming through. For years, like my mother, I tried to fight it. “blonde! I want to be a blonde!” I would scream, but only end up with a weird, brassy colour.
And so… well, sometimes I decide to stop fighting it, and flow with it. Perhaps even flow a little too much. I gleefully pour on the red dye, celebrating my heritage, sometimes psychotically screaming at my hair in the mirror “You want red?! I’ll show you red! I’ll show you RED!! MWAMAHAHAHA!”
This is when I leave it alone.
This is when I force it blonde.
This is when I cackle at the mirror.

And I can’t check the carpet to verify.

I have waxed floors. :stuck_out_tongue:

I used to be a redhead. Deep auburn, all through my formative years.

Now I’m only a redhead in the summer, when my very dark brown hair gets sunbleached.

I have more grey than I should, at 25.

Yep.

The carpet matches the curtains almost exactly.

Mine are curly. However, my aunt (only two years older, we grew up together) has straight pubes.

My aunt has the true red hair–which is fairly straight–pale, thin skin, and icy blue eyes. My eyes are green/blue/grey depending on who you ask, my skin tans the slightest amount and isn’t quite as transparent (which isn’t saying much). My hair is more on the copper side, I guess–overall it looks like a cross between the dark orange of your average orange tabby cat and the dark gold of my new Golden Retriever. Individual hairs are run the gamut from white to dark red.

I have wavy hair; currently it’s a little more than halfway down my back when dry, down to my ass when it’s wet.

My hair was red till I got to be 2 or 3, then it changed to chestnut.

Nowadays I get it colored so it’s more burgundyish.

Does any of that count?

Yeppers. And I haven’t gotten a single grey yet either despite being almost 38…
