How many times do you get up during the night to pee?

Male, 46. Generally I don’t get up to pee at all, except maybe if I’ve had a particularly large quantity of fluid the night before- beer will definitely do it. That’s usually on a weekend night, and even then, what happens is that I wake up at my normal weekday time, realize I have to pee and that I’m not falling back to sleep unless I do.

Female, 64. I drink a cup of tea before bedtime, so it’s once or twice.

Male, 41. Never.

Hmmmm…now that you mention it. I thought I just sweated a lot.

It’s always interesting to learn about how much variety there is with humans.

  1. Once, most nights. Occasionally I will sleep through, but it isn’t common.

Rarely do I sleep through the night without having to get up to pee at least once. I don’t turn on any lights and keep my eyes closed! I’m usually able to fall right back to sleep. It doesn’t matter if I drink a lot during the evening or not. Sometimes I drink a couple of glasses of water before bed because I’m so thirsty. Those are the nights I usually sleep through without having to get up

The worst thing for me to eat during the evening is watermelon or cantaloupe. If I do, I will be up 3 or 4 times to pee. They’re my favorite things to eat during the summer so I only eat them before 6pm.

I’m fascinated by learning everyone’s age!

Also, who’s a girl and who’s a boy.

Female, 47, once (usually around 3:00-4:00 AM). I need to figure out what time I should stop drinking water/soda in the evening so I don’t wake up in the middle of the night.

Female, 62. I get up occasionally in the night, like maybe twice a month. Normally, I sleep through the night.

Male, 44. Lots.

At least 2-3 times. 4-5 times is routine. More than that isn’t unusual by any means, especially when I can’t fall asleep (going to the the toilets beats lying on my bed, waiting get some sleep). I wouldn’ t be surprised if it was every 30 minutes during such episodes.

Never, unless you count taking a quick leak after hitting the snooze in the morning before getting back in bed.

Male, 42. (For two more days. :D)

Sex change?

Male 58. It really varies. Either twice up to 6-7 times. I really depends on how well I’m sleeping. If something wakes me up, could be a dog, or just rolling over, I think, well, I might as well or I’m gonna lay here thinking about it.

We have an ‘in-suite’ bathroom that is just a few steps away.

I did get Tamsulosin (flowmax) from my Doc, doesn’t seem to help.

I think part of it may have to do with my desk job. I get up to stretch my legs about once an hour, and… well… I might as well take a pee.

Male, 63.
Two to three times a night is normal for me.
I have the bad habit of drinking a glass of water when I’m up anyway.
If I don’t, I can get it down to one or two times, but wake in the morning with a very dry mouth.

Male 50, zero or one time.

Female 40. Type 2 diabetic.

Never, anymore.

A few years ago I went through a period of getting up every morning around 3 AM to pee, or if I didn’t, I woke up at my regular having to pee super super bad.

Then I got my CPAP machine and I haven’t woken up to pee once. I also get out of bed in the morning and can feed the dogs before I have to pee. So, whatever the CPAP did to me, it stopped making me wake up to pee!

Male - 55 - usually zero. On the rare occasion when I do get awakened by the need to pee it is usually pretty close to time to get up anyway.

There are ways to tell - You can be pretty sure it’s sweat if you wake up and your SO is still in the bed. You can be pretty sure it’s urine if you wake up and a Russian hooker is still in the bed. If you wake up alone it really doesn’t matter.

Male, 82, diabetic. Always at least once. The number of times depends more on salt intake than fluid. Tonight I am eating at a restaurant and will probably not get up more than once. But assuming I resume my usual low salt diet, then either tomorrow night or Saturday night I could get up 3 times, very rarely more.
