Just saw the post about Trump’s Hollywood star getting vandalized and it makes me wonder how many times this has happened before? I seem to recall an episode of ‘I Love Lucy’ about this very thing - so the idea of stealing/defacing various stars isn’t a particularly new notion. I have to believe it’s happened many times before. I wonder if they have ‘replacement stars’ in stock for those times when it does?
What exactly was he “honored” for?
I didn’t mean Trump’s star specifically. I mean any star that gets damaged. Maybe Buster Keaton had an ex who got PO’ed at him and splashed battery acid over his star - what do they do when that happens?
Being honored means paying enough for the star.
The Wikipedia article mentions several thefts of stars.
Not to niggle, except that’s what we do here, but I remember it being a cement block containing John Wayne’s footprints from Grauman’s Chinese Theater that was stolen on “I Love Lucy”.
The Apprentice. EDIT: And Miss Universe, too, apparently.
Not exactly. A person needs to be nominated and there must be some tenuous connection to entertainment to get accepted. Then they need to get $30k which can come from the honoree or donations.
Lucy Ricardo stole John Wayne’s footprints from the Graumann’s Chinese Theater on “I Love Lucy”.
I remember earlier this year reading about how someone had built a 6" wooden “wall” around the Trump star, to keep out the immigrants.
I thought that was far more creative than just vandalizing it.
You know, you’re right - like the OP, I guess I’ve always thought of those two as the same thing.
Are they even near each other?
Not exactly the same thing but the same idea.
The Walk of Fame happens to extend in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater
I would say it gets vandalized constantly, day after day. Bum’s are constantly pissing on it.
