How much do you hate the USA?

I tell you what I hate. Assholes that lump every single American into one catagory IE ALL Americans suck, ALL Americans are stupid. Fucking dipshits need to be more selective in their bashing dontcha think? I personally love America the country, America the people, and America the flag but I DESPISE the government and it’s overpaid top officials. Bastards get more in one year than I’ve gotten in my entire working life. Must be nice to get all that money and never do anything with it but buy yourself a big ass house you don’t need and 5 cars you never fucking drive while people like me bust our asses working two jobs to feed 2 kids, pay rent on a piece of shit 1970 toyota and rent a 2 bedroom apartment in the most VIOLENT part of town and pray every night that noone breaks in and steals your kids after murdering you for your wedding bands. Fucking bastards.

“with my last dying breath I SPIT at thee”

This is what I’m talking about.

You, and 4,170 other people.

You know what I do like? Burritos. I think I’m going to have one for lunch.

Just say “no” to jingoism.

Are we in the Pit yet? I think pencilpusher may not have unloaded both barrels yet.

Looking into the abyss.

Just a point of note, ALL american presidents are unelected. The position is more that of ‘benevolent dictator’ than ‘representative of the people’. I am sure everyone here’s seen the electoral college reference ad naseum. The point of which is that appointed (read: Beurocrats) elect the president, not the people. Tradition says that the electors vote with whatever the majority of their own state population votes for, but no law prevents them from doing otherwise.

Personally, I extremely dislike bush, but am very happy with the electoral college system, (and completely behind the results of the last election) since it helps prevent candidates (like gore) for only campaigning in large cities and only focusing on the issues that ‘big city folk’ care about.

See: Amendment XII

Well, it’s even more like “elected executive” who’s been signed to a four year contract and is given considerable discretionary powers, but can still be “fired” by Congress.

A dictatorship is a considerably different animal.

KHAAAAAAAANNN!!!

[Edited post to get rid of screen wrap. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. – MEB]

Actually, the line in the movie was “For hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee.”

I’d have to dig up my copy of Moby Dick to check if this an accurate quote, though.

That movie is in my all-time top ten.

Wow. This thread is already reaching a whole page in length, at least in my view, and the subject hasn’t even been addressed yet.

My apologies to disgruntled pencilpusher, who is cursing their position in life instead of their position in America, and Grey, who is giving excellent reasons against their own country instead of reasons against America.

I personally like America, despite some of its flaws.

I feel that those who are mocking this thread are quite jaded and cynical. Both of these are qualities that everyone should have in proportion, to some extent. But, like they say, everything in moderation - including moderation.

Love the country, love the people, hate the management.

I want what is best for my country, and I often disagree with the leadership. This has nothing to do with my level of patriotism; indeed, my desire for change and growth for our country is, in my opinion, patriotic.

I think that currently, America is not putting its best foot forward in the world. Our ham-fisted arrogance is losing us friends faster than trees in the rainforest.

Our so-called representatives are not representative of voters’ desires, but of the desires of their financial benefactors. This is contrary to my basic sense of fairness. However, if “the will of the people” were carried out to the letter, we’d probably be in an even bigger mess [sigh].

a

“You’ve got nothing”…? Fair enough.

So we’ll just take all of our cars, computers, medical equipment, medicines, doctors, livestock, produce, charities, technology, military and MONEY, back, then. The UN, NATO, the World Bank, Amnesty Int’l, the Red Cross, World Hunger, AIDS Relief, all can do well enough without any more contributions from us, since you’re so pissy about any suggestions we offer regarding how the money be spent.

We’ll just bring all of our resources back and you lot can work it out for yourselves.

Ungrateful shits.

Just like those that bitch about missionaries giving out food that also give Bibles. “Keep yer opinions to yourself, but oh, yeah, DO leave the money here.”

Take our fucking ball and go home. YOU can play with yourselves.

Representation without taxation, eh? What a fabulous idea!

And don’t forget, Chicago Faucet, jaded and cynical are fashionable here on the SDMB. You’re opinions aren’t really worth taking seriously if you actually sniffs haughtily believe in something.

Yeah, Gore was really taking aim at those “big city folk” by saying he wanted to give a tax break to the poor and middle class instead of giving a huge break to the wealthy.

A lot of that technology stuff was invented by Canadians, actually.

And we’re still not (yet) in the Pit.

Is this “hating America” thing meant to be new?..

Randy Newman’s Political Science (1972)

Whoa. My sky just went dark with all the strawmen flying past. Down boy.

Classy.

On a scale of one to sauce, America is fuckin’ Ravioli.

The Op is neither “great” nor a “debate.” As noted on the first page, it’s the jingoistic equivalent of “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?”

The only question in my mind is why the thread wasn’t locked down in the first ten minutes for excessive stupidity.
