How much do you hate the USA?

The last time I hated anything or anybody that much, it was Attorney General John Meese (Nixon Admin), his wife Carolyn, his daughter Linda and son Skippy.

I hate Meeses to pieces.

Hey, Tygr has a point. We’ll stop selling the ungrateful bastards stuff! That’ll show them! We’ll just print more of our own money, we don’t need anyone else’s!

Oh, and 'luce? Don’t make me come over there.

Only partly true. This varies from state-to-state (24 can do what they please…the rest have restrictions). In some states they can do what they like, some states impose fines on the elector if they stray and some impose criminal sanctions. Nevertheless I am at a loss to think of any instance of an elector who voted the way they wanted instead of how they were directed (not saying it han’t happened…probably has I suppose but at most I’d think it’d be exceedingly rare). CITE

Is there really a drastic difference between the electoral college and a parliamentary system (ok…many differences but I’m talking about the notion behind electing your leader)? The Brits don’t elect their PM directly so why does everyone find it so puzzling we don’t elect our President directly?

More directly relating to the OP I only hope that Europeans (or much of the rest of the world) don’t hold grudges and realize that we have a President who squeaked into the office on dubious grounds at best and did not have the majority of the popular vote. (Of course, this only speaks to those who hate the current American government and not Americans in general. Not sure what to do about the those who hate all people/things American.)

In short…most Americans didn’t want him there either. Hopefully the problem will be corrected in a year-and-a-half.

The poor and the middle class don’t live in the cities?

Can we also take back the weapons, the soldiers and the bases? It seems only fair…

Ever see Monty Python’s Life of Brian?

[li]Reg – They bled us white, the bastards. They’ve taken everything we had. And not just from us, but from our fathers, and from our fathers’ fathers.[/li][li]Loretta – And from our fathers’, fathers’, fathers.[/li][li]Reg – Yeah.[/li][li]Loretta – And from our fathers’, fathers’, fathers’, fathers.[/li][li]Reg – Yeah, all right, Stan. Don’t label the point. And what have they ever given us in return?[/li][li]Rebel2 – The aquaduct?[/li][li]Reg – What?[/li][li]Rebel2 – The aquaduct.[/li][li]Reg – Oh yeah, yeah. They did give us that. That’s true, yeah.[/li][li]Rebel3 – And sanitation.[/li][li]Lorett – Oh yeah, the sanitation, Reg. Remember what the city used to be like.[/li][li]Reg – Yeah, all right, I’ll grant you the aquaduct , the santation are two things the Romans have done…[/li][li]Mathias – And the roads.[/li][li]Reg – Well, yeah. Obviously the roads, I mean the roads go without saying, don’t they? But apart from the sanitation, the aquaduct, and the roads…[/li][li]Rebel4 – Irrigation.[/li][li]Rebel2 – Medcine.[/li][li]Rebel5 – Education.[/li][li]Reg – Yeah, yeah, all right. Fair enough…[/li][li]Rebel1 – And the wine.[/li][li]Rebels – Oh, yeah! Francis Yeah. Yeah, That’s something that we’d really miss, Reg, if the Romans left, huh.[/li][li]Rebel6 – Public baths.[/li][li]Loretta – And it’s safe to walk the in streets at night now Reg.[/li][li]Francis – Yeah, they certainly know how to keep order. Let’s face it, the only ones who could in a place like this.[/li][li]PFJ – Huhuhuh. Huhuhuhuhuh.[/li][li]Reg – All right. But apart from the sanitation, the medecine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system, and public health… What have the Romans ever done for us?[/li][li]Rebel2 – Brought peace?[/li][li]Reg – Oh, peace. Shaddup.[/li][/ul]

I have lots of friends in Europe (mostly Germany), a lot in Canada and a couple in New Zealand. None of them hate the USA.

They are all clever enough to know that Bush is not America.

By the way, like me, they ALL hate Bush.

Is that what you were getting at?

I hate Americans because they don’t play cricket.

OK, to answer the OP, then no. I kinda like you bastards. You can be a bunch of arrogant fucks at times, but you’ve achieved a lot, so you can probably be forgiven. I also like the Dubya administration, but that’s probably because a) I’m a conservative bastard, and b) I think Condoleeza is hot.

Seriously, to the average American worried about this issue, just understand that it’s not contradictory for us to like you, but not want to be you.

I offer exhibit A: the countless Aussie flags I saw at half mast in September 2001. I rest my case.

Oh yeh, and y’all invented The Blues. We like you weirdos.

You looking for Shock and Awe candidates?

<nudge, sotto voce> “Edwin”.

So when stick monkey contrasted “big city” folk with country folk, you think he was talking about the POOR big city folk and the RICH country folk? Yeah, right…

Um, euuuuwwww! She’s all yours, dude.

This idea that the electoral college forces candidates to campaign places they otherwise might ignore is perplexing to me. The two most populous states are ignored by everybody, precisely because they are safe Democrat states. Similarly, the Midwest “L” (or the top of the “L”) is pretty much ignored because those are safe Republican states. The only states where heavy campaigning is done are swing states.

About 6.3278 microRumsfelds on the Richter scale when measured according to the tests as defined in UWL standard #189756B of 10/16/1999. That is roughly equivalent to 4.6728 kiloSaddams in the UN scale.

I’ve just read through this entire thread, and if I get it correct, this is the game:

  • a non-American has, by request of the OP, to post how much (not: why) he hates the USA and/or its administration,
  • then the OP’s buddies jump all over him shouting ‘ungrateful bastards for hating the USA’.

Don’t see a debate there. And I’ll pass on playing.

It even more fun when you say you kind of like Americans but dislike their policies and then you get call a “little shit”.
Come on Tusculan, keep up.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about, exactly, but I thought my question was perfectly reasonable.

You asked “As an American, I am curious… just how much do you hate the USA? Is it just this current government or is your constant complaining directed at all of us?”

I think that if I am to answer you question, it is only reasonable that I find out exactly how much you hate the rest of us. Why can you ask, but I can’t?

I hate the USA because I am jealous
