How much is your car insurance?

Out of curiosity, since I was not driving at the time and wasn’t paying attention: did car insurance rates suddenly increase after states started passing mandatory insurance laws?

A little over $7500 per year.

Three cars, a truck, boat, motorcycle, small RV, and 4 drivers (one teen, one under 25, and two oldsters). Everyone has a spotless driving record (no tickets, no accidents). It’s all grouped into one quarterly bill. I don’t know how to divide it out to match one vehicle to one person in our family. We’re all “assigned” a vehicle, for some reason the company wants to know who’s the primary driver of each.

I guess it’s about $1000 per year, per vehicle. Not too bad I guess, considering the young drivers.

In north TX, $246.00 a year for liability only with uninsured motorists also added for a 2004 Ford Ranger Edge pickup.

After adding my 16 year old son last month I am paying $2800/yr for 3 cars and four drivers - my wife and I with good driving records and a 18 year old daughter and the aforementioned son (this is in the Dallas area).

Central Indiana, $496 a year for full coverage through Progressive, 2000 Kia Sephia. I get a discount of $64 a year for being a returning customer. No accidents, tickets, or claims. It’s about $1000 less than liability coverage with a higher deductible cost me through Allstate, after having been a customer with them for over a decade… pretty easy decision to switch. (It did go up by $4 when I moved three miles north to a new zip code. Poor me!)
