So do I. I’ve never figured out how I’m supposed to do a good job of brushing my teeth without the toothpaste going everywhere, so it’s either brush in the shower or look like a Bukkake film reject.
I choose you, shower!

Here’s my routine:
Morning: Brush teeth.
Before bed: a) Floss, b) WaterPick[sub]TM[/sub], c) Brush teeth
Twice each day, morning then night. I usually rinse with Listerine after each and after lunch. Seems to work OK.
I used to go about 3 days with out brushuhing. I’ve just recently started to bursh my teeth 2 times a day, after I was told I had 4 cavities at my last dental check up (making a grand total of 10). Now that I have braces, I have to do it even more often.
1)first thing in the morning after I get up
2)after breakfast
3)as soon as I get home
4)after dinner
5)before bed
as well as any other time I feel like it.
no fewer than 5 times a day, possibly as many as ten times.
I brush at least every 2 days. When I’m too tired I just do mouthwash. And as long as I brush daily for the week before I see my dentist, she never seems to find any cavities.
Not nearly enough… I brush my teeth twice a day, in the morning and before bed, but none of that “after every meal” crap. I know I should though… but I’ve been chewing more of those sugar free gums that claims to reduce plaque and whiten teeth after every meal have no idea if they’re working though. I wonder if it’s the same? I’m just bad with those things… I don’t even wear my retainers as much as I should. My teeth are crying out for help.
i brush like five times a day, but not because of my teeth. i mainly ignore my teeth when i brush and concentrate on my tongue and roof, since my whole purpose in brushing is to rid my mouth of any food taste. i hate when my mouth feels dirty…i could go for a week without washing my hair but i can’t go three hours without brushing my teeth. i’m addicted starbucks mints too.
After every meal if possible. More bacteria in the mouth than anywhere else on the body. You’ll get sick less often too.
Twice a day - after breakfast, right before bedtime. I have one of those electic toothbrushes, which really is great. I brush thoroughly with it, and I use it to stimulate my gums, too.
I’m terrible about flossing, though. I know that sooner or later I’ll need to be more diligent.
I have good teeth, it runs in the family. During my first cleaning after maybe 15 years of not seeing a dentist, the hygenist commented how “clean” my teeth were. I only get cavities when I blatantly abuse my teeth, (eat lots of candy, and let the sugary stuff just stew on my molars all day). When I half-ass take care of my teeth, they seem to be OK.
I have been wanting to ask a simular question, and this thread saves me the trouble.
I moved to a new state (in the Midwest), after being in L.A. all my life. I have NEVER seen so many younger people with rotting teeth until I moved here. Young people with missing teeth, or just front teeth that are cankered and half gone! I have never seen the like before. A friend who recently moved from the West Coast has noticed the same thing. She says that the West Coast has more of an obsession with dental hygene. I don’t know if she’s right, but I do know that I never knew what “teeth rotting out of her head” looked like until I moved here.
Also, a co-worker (a native of this area) has had a lot of trouble with her teeth falling out. When the subject came up about dental care, she made a comment about her stepdaughter brushing her teeth “A LOT! Like once a day!” This woman brushes her teeth every few days, and seemed to have no clue as to why her teeth were falling out. I just don’t get how people can not understand that brushing is important! Is this a regional thing, like my friend thinks?
There’s a US version called Pearl Drops that sounds just like that.
I brush in the morning and before bed.And once in a while after dinner.I think i floss once a month or so.
Brush - In the morning after I get out of the shower, before I get dressed, and again after I take out my contacts before I got to bed. I rinse with an anti-cavity rinse too. I floss almost anytime, often when I’m sitting at the computer reading. Yes, I am alone when I floss, I don’t like watching other people do it.
Once a day, in the morning right before I shave. I have one of those electric toothbrushes that has a timer on it, 30sec for each section of the mouth, 2min total time. My teeth and gums are in much better shape since I bought it, I think the extra time I spend is as important as the “ultrasonic waves”
I should probably add a nighttime brush as well, just a matter of putting in my routine.
Usually I only brush once a day. At night before I go to bed, I will brush my teeth and then use Listerine. If I forgot to brush before I went to bed, I can tell in the morning so I will brush then. I always also do a little spurt o’ Listerine in the mornin’ for my breath. I’ve never flossedx regularly. This led to very sensitive gums. Going to the dentist resulted in a lot of blood. Of course, they would say nice teeth, but you need to floss or your gums will get even worse. But I’ve found that since I’ve started using Listerine, flossing isn’t neccesary, since the germs that would feed off of the food I couldn’t brush away are all dead. If, occasionally, I can feel a large piece of food stuck between my teeth and I can’t get it out with my tongue and finger, in goes the floss. But other than that, I don’t find it neccesary.
