How safe was your first sex?

“I remember when a dime bag cost a dime and a quarter cost a quarter. You know how much condoms used to cost back in them days?”

“How much?”

“I don’t know, we never used 'em”

She said she was on the pill, which I found out later to be false.
I did not wear a condom, nor did the other guy there.
Yeah, that was an… interesting weekend.

1970s. She was on the pill. STDs, like Facebook and the obesity epidemic, had not yet been invented.

Not safe at all…but I was in love. I would have suffered any consequence for Him. :smack:

It was anal.

As for the first vaginal sex - no condom. Our method of birth control was: hope.

FWIW, I don’t think I could have gotten her pregnant if I’d tried. I wasn’t able to get Mrs. Homie pregnant, and we were actually trying.

No condom. It was in a tree-house, on a dare. Stupid, stupid kids…

Yeah, I caught that after the edit window. At least it makes for an interesting typo.

Thanks for the responses. The reason I posted this is I had a recent discussion with a friend about first time and condom use. The debate was “When it’s your first time, and having a hard time figuring out all of the stuff that’s supposed to happen down there, and then trying to roll a slimy rubber skin on your penis while trying to remain erect and not look unsexy in front of the lady just ain’t gonna happen.” vs. “Why would people NOT use a condom on their first time? It’s the only sane thing to do!!”

Well, at least you did, anyway.

Yup, I used one.

About a week before it happened, we were fooling around (I was a virgin, she was not (though I had gone up to oral with a previous GF,)) and I finally said I wanted to go all the way. She didn’t want to do it “right then and there.” (To be fair, I had wanted to go all the way with her since the first night we spent together, I just knew that she was hesitant about being MY first.) She basically said “well, think about it when you’re not so horny and if you still want to, we will.”

Not so horny? I was 19! No such thing! Anyway, the next week was her school’s spring break*, so I visited her at her home (she lived ~one hour away). And yes, I planned ahead and brought a condom with me, and finally got to use it! Woo! I had sex! And then very soon after it was over, we heard what we thought was a door opening downstairs and one of her parents coming home!

Thankfully, it wasn’t.

*Sidenote: our colleges were in the same town, but our spring breaks were different weeks. Oh, did I mention she went to an all-women’s college, and I went to a VERY male-heavy school? LOTS of men from my school dated women from her’s…why would they schedule the spring break for different weeks?! Bastards!

And I thought “When am I going to go back to Haiti?”

Used a condom, condom broke, and she ran to get the morning after pill the next day.

No condom. But it was the 70s, she was on the pill and it didn’t last very long anyway. What could go wrong?

Ditto. We did play a little “Pope’s Pinball,” but that was about it. Both virgins, so disease wasn’t a factor.

Used a condom. It broke.

Jesus took your virginity?

My first time was with a girl my friend literally called to out of the window of the car I was driving, and convinced her to get in. She had just gotten out of a cab and was walking up the sidewalk to her house. She ended up doing us both in the backseat (him orally, me vaginally) while the guy who wasn’t getting serviced drove. No condom and I have no idea if she was using any protection. I never even learned her name. When we were all done, we dropped her off back at her house. It was stupid, and I was lucky. 1983.

Nah, but I worshipped that boy to the best of my ability!

Yep. Condom, sponge and tube of spermicide. 1992.

Got pregnant.

There’s a reason we call it safer sex now, not safe sex. :smack:

All the more reason to distribute copious amounts of condoms to people well before they actually have sex. Practice, practice, practice, when there’s no one else there to look silly in front of.

I had already had sex with two college girlfriends (not including my very first, as indicated above) before I had ever put a condom on. My college roommate had gone home for the weekend and I had nothing to do, so I went down to the convenience store to pick up a few things, including a box of condoms. I was curious about what it felt like to have one on. So in the privacy of my bedroom, I broke one open and rolled it on. If figured if I ever needed to use one, I’d at least have the mechanics of it down.

I had no idea sex would occur that night, so no. I was 17 and he was 16. We met during a church youth retreat and ended up in the same room that night. (Bedroom in the house of friends of my parents). Ended up talking a couple hours, figured out we were both gay and into each other. Then proceeded to go at it for 6 hours, with a repeat performance the next night.
