I’m Tick-ee, not Tee-kee. My name is derived from my Finnish grandmother’s maiden name and since Finland is about as far from Polynesia as one can get, has nothing to do with the islanders’ set of gods, torches or huts. Also, they generally use one ‘k’ in the spelling instead of two.
Silenus, just recently I was wondering what your name meant and so went a’Googling. I came across that very page! Among others, of course. Makes me realize that my knowlege of Greek mythology isn’t what it could be. Do you have any recommendations on books on the subject I could delve into?
brachyrhynchos, I was just thinking yesterday that I hadn’t noticed your name lately. We had a nice discussion in a thread about crows a year or so ago. I’m glad to see you’re still around!
Mine is pretty easy. It’s jayke-line, not jack-el-inn or jack-uh-line. However, jake-uhl-ine is also acceptable. It’s based on a purposeful mispronounciation of my name.
