How soon after a woman becomes pregnant does morning-sickness start?

I had morning sickness every month when we were trying to concieve. But we didn’t concieve. All in my head.

When I actually got pregnant three years later with Baby Surprise, I missed the fact that I was pregnant for most of the first trimester and was barely quesy.

The thing that amazed me about my morning sickness (starting about the 6th week) was not how soon it started but the violence with which it started. I was fine one day and sick, sick, sick, sick, sick the next. That lasted until about the 14th week and then, overnight, it was gone and never came back. Go figure.

It never fails me what good info I get from this board. My husband rolls his eyes every time I say “I’ll post to that message board I read and see if anybody knows anything about it.”

Then I come back with really good information.

haha

She did take a test (when we went to lunch) and it came back negative. I am going to tell her to take another next week though if she doesn’t have a period soon.

Thanks for all the posts, and advice.

Heard that. I finished my first trimester with nary an episode and thought “HAH! I’m out of the woods.” Week 14 I started throwing up my toenails.

Wades into dangerous territory

Breezy, is your friend overweight?

I ask because about a year ago I was at my all-time high, weight wise. My once-regular periods started screwing up leading to a couple of trips to Wal-Mart for an EPT. It was scaring me too much every month so I went on the Pill. I asked my midwife if my weight was making my cycle irregular and she (very tactfully) said yes.

Just something to think about.

Then of course all sorts of other things can make periods late.

Could be real soon depending on what the father looks like!

She told me she loved me like a brother. She was from Arkansas, hence the Joy!

chiming in here with about 2-4 weeks, hope this helps!

I literally got sick at about the time of implantation–approximately 3-5 days after ovulation. We were on our way to an Eric Clapton concert and I got violently sick and asked my husband to pull over so I could puke. I knew then that I was pregnant. I remained queasy on and off until I was about 4 weeks pregnant, then stayed sick until my 5th month.

Of course, I’m one of those freaky weird people who sense very small changes within my body.

I was sick from as soon as possible until I gave birth 7 months later. I think the hormones were double due to twins.

Four babies, no morning sickness with any of them, but the day after conception with ALL of them I developed the most insatiable appetite and the sorest boobs imaginable.

I never needed a missed period or a Predictor Kit to tell me I was pregnant.

So Breezy, I guess the message is that there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to pregnancy symptoms. They can start early or late or be non-existent.
