How to drive a BMW M3.

If you have a spare 8.5 minutes… take a look at this video.

Keep in mind that Hans there is driving a BMW M3 GTR, a slightly different animal from your normal 333-hp run-of-the-mill M3. M3 owners, do not expect to haul your butt around the Nurburgring in eight in a half minutes.

Just wait till he has a money shift then he’ll be lookin silly

Is he actually that much better than all those cars he was passing? Was that a race or a practice? Those other cars seemed to be standing still compared to him.

Well, it’s the Nurburgring. It’s a “race” track in Germany. Lots of car companies do testing there. And if you’re some schmoe off the street, you can drive it too. Bring a car. I think it’s something like 17 Euros a lap.

He’s not participating in a race, it’s just a normal open track day, where anyone can get out there and drive. You get people with wickedly fast cars (you see quite a few Porches in that video) who have no clue how to drive, but that OK.

But the answer to your other question is “yes, he really is that good.” Bio. Hanging out, driving your car around the Nurburgring, indulging your race car fantasies, and then getting passed by Hans Stuck would be like shooting hoops at a park one night, and randomly getting dunked on by Michael Jordan.

Porsches. Hopefully Johnny L.A. doesn’t come in and bop me one.

I’m pretty sure that’s not just a normal open track day. He’s using the combined track, with the new short course and the old Nordschleife, he drives right past the track exit that’s used on public days, and he passes on the right. There are still a few races held on the long track, including a 24-hour race, I think. This looks like it’s from one of the practice or qualifying sessions.

I’ve been there. Damn, it’s fun. I had a rented diesel Mercedes and passed a tour bus and a Porsche. (It was a pretty good car, too, but not the best for unleashing my inner Fangio. Which may have a been a good thing; a proper sports car might have inspired me to do something really stupid.)

After getting through the video, I have to say damn I knew GT4 is realistic in scale, but they even mapped a lot of the trees accurately.

That’s a lot like how one drives a C-5 'vette. (don’t hit! I’m going  )
