how to get picture from "The Family of Man"

There is a picture in thisbook that has stayed with me for a very long time. It is of an African hunter getting ready to dispatch (with a spear) an antelope while his son and dogs look on. It is a stunning photograph with seemingly everything perfectly in place for an important yet everyday (for them) event.

I’d like to get a good quality copy of it. How can I get a nice copy and hang it on my wall?

Best bet: Drop a line on MOMA-- on their website there is probably a link to “image reproduction queries” or something. If you have an accession number/ object number for the photo from the catalogue or back of the book it might help. Any copy they can get for you (unless it’s been made a poster) will be a ‘good’ copy as well as ‘exorbitant’. If it’s been made a poster or something they might have copies left (you might ask–make sure they know you’re not looking for publishing a repro or anything like that)

We had that book growing up. I remember that particular photo very well. I also think I saw a reprint of that book just a few years ago - check the usual online suspects (Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Alibris) and I’ll bet you’ll find a copy. You might then be able to take a photo of the image yourself and get it professionally developed/enlarged. If the image is not otherwise commercially available, you’re not taking money from the pocket of the photographer, so I wouldn’t sweat the copyright.
