Actually, not speaking for Hal, but it’s not automatic at all. I know plenty of happy, fulfilled rich people with plenty of close-knit relationships. Equally, I know many poor miserable assholes who go home to their sterile toys.
No, it’s not a generalization. It’s a SPECIFIC reaction to the fact that you’re pretty much an unrepentant asshole who has views that seem nearly calculated to alienate you from your fellow humans.
I’d agree that my views are calculated to alienate me from liberal douches, but thankfully you guys haven’t completely hijacked the minds of all other humans yet (but it’s only Obama’s first term, so he’s got time).
Congratulations! You’re now the second person, in ten years on the Dope, to make my Ignore List. Don’t bother with a snarky reply, hoss. I’ll never see it.
Shocked, I am, that you don’t have any concept of what is and what is not the decent thing to do in a given situation.
Zeriel already covered it nicely, but just to reiterate – there is zero need for any generalization here. There are only two possibilities: either the persona you utilize here is your true self, in which case you most certainly do fit the “poor rich man” stereotype; or it’s not your true self, in which case you’re simply a troll.
Hal, there’s an interesting (well, to me, anyway) parallel between your attitude about Gary and your attitude about me, and I think it typifies the liberal douche mindset. Namely, you think that people who don’t agree with you are morally inferior to you.
If you were to adopt a more reasonable tone (i.e., if your essential posture was less about alienating the douches), do you think you’d be more successful or less?
