I have a recipe for an icee type drink that calls for fructose as one of the ingredients. IIRC, fructose can be made by combining sugar and water. But just how many parts of sugar per parts of water?
White sugar (table sugar) is sucrose, which contains equal quantities of fructose and glucose. Adding water won’t change that ratio, so if you need pure fructose, you need to buy “fruit sugar”, or use honey.
Table sugar is Sucrose which is, IIRC, Fructose and Glucose bonded together. Fructose is fruit sugar and you need to buy it specially. In my local supermarket, it’s in the health food section for some reason.
