How to make money: the 2011 get-rich-quick thread...

Which all you need to do is put CEO Fortune 100 into Monster.com and fill out the on-line application. I’m not sure what is so HARD about getting a CEO job - especially once you have a diploma mill MBA…

Nope, you’re the first!

Based on other threads on SMDB you should start a penny auction server.

You mean he didn’t get hired as a CEO right out of business school during on-campus recruiting?

Okay, I’ll give you my idea but, it’d only be fair, I think, if you sent me on a beach vacation if you get rich!

I can’t imagine why such a thing doesn’t exist already.

You know how you see advertised on tv a panic button for seniors? It’s always a subscription service, like 30$ a month or so. And it’s always sold as monitored 24/7 by actual human beings, (I have my doubts!), who, by prearrangement, call you and tell you Granny has fallen, or some such. Seems a whole lot of unnecessary relaying to me, after all you can’t really be calling 911 until you know more.

Just write an app that, when Granny opens her wriststrap locket, (easy open, of course), and hits the button, it triggers a unique sound on your I phone.

I know not the first thing about code or how to write it, but it doesn’t seem that hard to me. Everyone with elderly parents, (the hardest people to buy gifts for!), would be buying them. They’d be flying off the shelves at Mother’s/Father’s day. Go ahead and write your own commercials!

No subscription service, looks like a wristwatch, no relay delay, you just keep your I phone within earshot. Probably not more than a few lines of code.

If it goes, (and why wouldn’t it?), it could keep going, conceivably, for year’s to come!

(I prefer someplace with white sand and palm trees!)

  1. Find unknown, talented but unstable artist.

  2. Fund, encourage, and nurture said artist to create as much art as possible.

  3. Don’t murder, but rather encourage and enable artist to self-destruct.

  4. Sell art to the rich and snooty for ludicrous amounts of money.

And apparently his parents don’t own any businesses nor are part of any old boy networks.

Telemergency is a device which sort of does this. Granny gets a button which will dial a list of phone numbers and play a message. Needs a normal phone line.

Figure out how to make a ‘slogging through snow’ machine, it should sell really well to gyms and spas. Probably replace the stair climbing machines in popularity. It is an amazing aerobic workout.

Having once dropped my … hat? mittens? off a ski lift into a woody area and then slogging through thigh-high snow to retrieve them, I understand exactly what you mean.

So can’t he call on an old fraternity brother or someone from his high school lacrosse team?

Seriously though (ok, not really), most people don’t seem to grasp that we are transitioning from an Information Age economy to an Idiocracy Age economy.

The Industrial Age eliminated things like farming and making shit and rendered most of the jobs that used to be done by strong, skilled people obsolete.

The Information Age eliminated a lot of the jobs that used to be done by people with a high attention to detail and tolerance of tedium.

Eventually all the jobs that were performed by smart people are going to be eliminated.

Now, the growth is in jobs for attractive idiots with poor impulse control! If you want to be a part of this new economy, I strongly advise you work out every day, drink lots of FourLoco or Red Bull and vodka and make sure your buddy always has his camera phone ready to upload your hijinks to YouTube so you can get discovered by MTV or Bravo or whoever.

My dad did this in the early eighties/late seventies. He sold bottles of LA smog and apparently he made pretty good money at it because his partner was able to embezzle a couple of hundred grand from the company and leave my parents penniless.

I think best get rich quick idea is to sell “green” technology to people. I know my mom’s family spends tons of money on solar charges for their phones or backyard windmills. You could open up a MLM scheme selling cheep knockoffs and it would grow for a while.
