I installed divx earlier today. It added a Divx and Yahoo toolbar to my firefox browser. Does anyone know how to remove this? I really would prefer not to have this. (Divx didn’t ask me whether I wanted it. I uninstalled Divx).
Go to “Tools” menu then select “Add-ons” then choose the “Extensions” tab in the Add-ons dialog. Then select the extension you want to delete and there should be an uninstall option.
You should be able to find the programs under the control panel add/remove programs setting, no?
Thanks ya’ll. I’d already tried the “add/remove” programs selection in the control panel. I used it to remove Divx. The “tools/addons” menu allowed me to get rid of the toolbar (and reclaim some screen real-estate).
Thanks,
pullin
Yahoo has agreements with several companies to include the toolbar as an option in the install. The problem is that the option is set by default, you have to untick the box to install the program without the toolbar and I’m sure many people just install quickly without reading the fine print, which is exactly how Yahoo wants it of course.
You can install DivX again and this time watch out for the Yahoo Toolbar blurb in the install and be sure to untick the box. DivX will then install without Yahoo.
