How do you set a password in Windows ME? I’ve managed to set up a login box with a username and password, but it’s nothing that can’t be gotten around by pressing the escape key. Is there any way to set up a password that would prevent someone who doesn’t know it from getting into Windows at all?
AFAIK, Win ME doesn’t have that capability, the way Win 2k and XP do. The login on ME and 98 isn’t a security feature, it’s only to keep separate user accounts. If no password is entered, Windows launches the default shared account. Your best bet, short of upgrading your OS, is to lock your computer using the BIOS password at startup.
