How would a villain takeover of the US work?

Red Skull and Magneto, two iconic villains from the Marvel universe, have distinct ideologies and backgrounds. Red Skull, also known as Johann Schmidt, is a fanatical Nazi leader obsessed with world domination and the purification of humanity. Magneto, on the other hand, is Erik Lehnsherr, a mutant with the ability to manipulate magnetic fields, and he is driven by a desire to protect mutantkind from persecution and oppression. While their motivations and methods differ, it is possible to rationalize a scenario in which Red Skull and Magneto might work together, although their alliance would likely be fragile and temporary.

  1. Common Enemy: One way to rationalize their collaboration is if they find themselves facing a common enemy or threat that surpasses their individual goals. This enemy could be a powerful superhero team, a government organization, or a cosmic force that poses a significant danger to both mutants and humanity. Realizing the need for combined strength, Red Skull and Magneto could reluctantly put their differences aside and form an uneasy alliance to combat this shared adversary.

  2. Mutant Supremacy: While Red Skull’s ideology revolves around Aryan supremacy, he could view mutants as a superior form of humanity due to their genetic mutations. Magneto, as a mutant rights advocate, believes in the superiority of mutants and their right to dominate the world. Red Skull could see an opportunity to use Magneto and his powers as a means to advance his own agenda. In this scenario, their alliance would be based on their shared belief in the superiority of certain genetic traits and their willingness to exploit that belief.

  3. Power Acquisition: Both Red Skull and Magneto have a history of seeking power and acquiring powerful artifacts. They might come across a source of immense power, such as an ancient relic or a mystical artifact, that could grant them the means to further their respective goals. Realizing the potential of this power, they might agree to work together temporarily to secure and harness it, with the understanding that they would eventually turn against each other once their individual objectives are achieved.

  4. Manipulation and Betrayal: Red Skull is known for his manipulative nature and ability to exploit people’s weaknesses. He could use this skill to deceive and manipulate Magneto into believing that their alliance is necessary for the greater good of mutants or their shared interests. Red Skull might convince Magneto that joining forces would give them a tactical advantage against their enemies, only to betray him later when it serves his own interests.

It is important to note that while these rationalizations provide a basis for Red Skull and Magneto working together, their collaboration would likely be temporary and marked by distrust and conflicting objectives. Their alliance could quickly deteriorate as their fundamental differences and personal ambitions come to the forefront.

Oh, and it gave the page the title “Unlikely Villain Alliance”.

Thanks.
Now I’m really worried.

Not having noticed the comic book connection, I misread the Title as “How would a Villein takeover of the US work?”

That puts a different complexion on the story and I imagine that they just need to band together and overthrow their lords and masters.

It’s happened before:

It didn’t work out great for Johann in the long run:

Was that Acts Of Vengeance? In an interview in Marvel Yearly, the Wizard points out that only an Asgardian would put Red Skull and Magneto on a team together.

In “Soon I will be Invincible “, the protagonist, Dr. Impossible lists the methods of conquering the world, and his thoughts on them. If I recall correctly, they are:

Conquest, nation by nation, house by house subjugation by violence. Effective, but difficult.

Mind control- tedious and unfulfilling

Infiltration and subversion- effective, but pointless, as nobody will know.

Doomsday device- his favorite. Build something to destroy the world, and blackmail the planet. Sure, someone will eventually knock you off the hill, but that’s the game.

I wonder how the villains in OML got control of the US nuclear arsenal and how soon. I can imagine them using some kind of comic book style hacking to render the nuclear silos in the Midwest inoperable.
