Someone who is not an idiot, but can be a jerk, posted the following statement on Facebook:

“What is the gun community going to do about this tragedy?”
“I dunno. What is the gay community going to do about Penn State?”***
How would you respond to this crap?
I guess first I would ask him to clarify whether he was saying that gays molest children, or that gun people have just as much to do with school shootings as gays have to do with children being molested (if that makes any sense). If he really does think that gays molest children, I’d probably just unfriend him. I don’t want to be friends with or listen to crap like that, and anything I say is unlikely to change his mind so fuck it.
You don’t. Nothing you can say to him will change his stance on gun control or gay rights or any issues either may cause.
If you are that offended by his posts, remove his posts from your feed or unfriend him.
If I’ve learned anything, it’s that people don’t change their convictions on Facebook. They ill remain the bigots/assholes they are, and calling them out will only make them more defensive. Don’t feed the trolls.
The block and defriend buttons exist for a reason.
This is really a theoretical question. I know there’s no snappy comeback that will actually change his mind.

Gun rights people promote ownership of guns and they do NOT promote the shooting up of schools and kids.
Gay rights people promote the right to engage in homosexual relationships and they do NOT promote adult men attacking under age boys.
I don’t think the person was saying that Gay=pedophile. The Penn State case referenced was an adult male who abused underage boys.

Because the “Gay Agenda” has absolutely no effect on the ability of a sicko to molest little boys. The “Gay Agenda” didn’t make it easier for Sandusky to get a penis.
The “Gun Agenda” intends to make it easier for everyone (including undiagnosed sickos) to get firearms. They may not WANT sickos to get firearms, but there isn’t a way to stop them without putting up a roadblock for everyone else.
I believe Internet decorum dictates you provide an articulate and well thought-out response. Something like:
“UR MOM IS GAY…DO YOU EVEN LIFT?”
With a picture of a cat.
