How would you start the MMP...?

Just talked to Sis and she is having problems getting a prescription filled, so she won’t be up until Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile, I’ve done some virtual apartment shopping and found several that tick most / all of my boxes. Once I have a list, Sis and BIL will scout out the neighborhoods, check the floodplain and help narrow down the options. They all run $200-400 less than what I pay now. The one that I like best so far is wheelchair accessible (important for someone with mobility issues), about 5 miles from Sis, W/D hookup and a pet park. Sounds like they cater to seniors.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

They have the Matlock Channel?

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with a predicted high of 19c/66f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Enjoy this fucking mild weather. Shitty stupid weather will soon be fucking here again.” I am definitely enjoying the mild weather, I don’t like too much heat so I’m happy sitting here next to an open window.

It’s always nice to know that people appreciated you and all that you did for them, especially in the midst of all this madness.

And a very fine pic it is! How can they possibly compare you to that withered old prune that is Kid Rock? You’d have to subject yourself to years of substance abuse to achieve his level of ick.

Their approach to maintenance seems pretty haphazard, I am glad they finally have someone sensible who sees that they need to do better. Even more so if they’re putting the rent up by so much.

I think it’s more of a blessing that everyone else survived the meeting without me throwing chairs at them!

'im indoors muttered a few times about wanting to have a dog. We have cats, I like cats, I do not particularly like dogs. He gave up on the idea when I said that a dog would be his dog, he would have to walk it twice a day in all weathers, and take it to the vet etc, so he quietly dropped the idea. No doubt it will surface again when he gives up work and actually has time on his hands…

I really hope so, you’ve put a lot into this, and yay for getting kept on until the end of the year while they work out how to make it permanent.

That doesn’t sound pleasant, but getting signed off for longer is good news as you must really need the rest.

Sad as the occasion is, it’s always good to hear that someone got a great send-off. It’s nice to hear that so many people stayed for the reception afterwards too, she must have been very highly thought of, which was hopefully a comfort to Ed too.

Yesterday evening was busy, I got home in fairly good time and tended to the various needs of the critters before making myself a sandwich for dinner. I wasn’t in the mood to cook just for myself, so I didn’t bother. I had to wait for ‘im indoors to let me know what time his train was arriving, then I went to collect him from our chosen meeting point near the station. We don’t use the station’s proper carpark because it’s a proper pain to get in and out of. There’s a convenient side-street a couple of minutes’ walk from the station that is much easier.

We got home and had a cuppa, then watched a couple of episodes of “Mr Inbetween” before I went to bed. The cats got their bedtime treats and ham, and I got my early night. Back at ir today, it’s a quiet day in the office. So far we have been looking at bed frames and mattresses as one of the team has just bought a new mattress but hasn’t decided on a bed frame, and I have the bed frame but need a new mattress. Getting our priorities right!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 and N.O.S. TWPTB say we shall have rain most all of next week. We shall see. Today is rib smokin’ (I get a good draw but they’re tough to keep lit) day. I will get ‘em in the smoker around seven and let ‘em go for several hours. JDD and partner are comin’ over tomorrow to hang at the cee-mint pond. They are bringin’ N.O.T. sallit. I shall make baked beans. Watermelon will be dessert. Should be a good time for all. There will be quality cee-mint pond time today as well. Any need to feed will be via forage.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Awesome!

That’s a great start.

Um, nope. And also no. Dessert is meant to be something chocolatey and delicious. Didn’t you know??

The dentist appointment went about as expected yesterday. I have two new cavities and one that has a loose filling which is currently causing my issue. The problem child will hopefully only be a filling, but may turn into a root canal. I looked at the ‘map’ of all my teeth and their issues and I have, in fact, had fillings in all of my teeth except one. Uggh.

I have a goal to finally finish the pillow that I’ve been working on today. I hope I accomplish it!

Almost 6 hours of sleep, so I’m almost functional! Huzzah!

The funeral talk has gotten me thinking - my mom is 91 and we’re about to head out of country for a month to places with limited airport service. Since my brother will be taking charge of everything, I thought I might write to him about this and get his ideas. I know my mom intends to be cremated and I’m sure she’s counting on the whole funeral mass. I also know she wants her ashes placed on Dad’s casket, but I don’t know how all that works, since up till now, every relative has had a casket and traditional burial. Anyway, I’ll touch base with bro to discuss. And we have trip insurance, so the expenses of lost vacation and travel home are not going to be an issue. And come to think of it, one of my sisters and her husband are going to be RV-ing at the same time, so that’s two of us who might not be around…

On to less depressing and more exciting topics - it’s laundry day!!! I decided last night I need to take the slipcovers off our recliners and wash them. And I want to gather all the microfiber cloths from the eye doctor and wash them - hope I can track them all down.

Tonight we’re meeting Daughter et al at Cracker Barrel for a family dinner. SIL is big on family dinners - I think because he never had them when he was growing up. His dad was abusive and his stepdad is a jerk. (I’ve not met him - I’m relying on reports from Daughter and FCD.) Anyway, I need to find out what time we’re meeting there. I also need to get Roxy’s seat out of FCD’s car and back into mine.

And beyond that, we’ll just have to see. At least I don’t have to decide what to thaw. So there’s that.

Happy Firday!!

Morning all. After a couple of days sleeping in I was up about 5:45am today and will shortly head off to do the Great Firday shopping. Outside of swimming and my 3pm weight training not much else is planned, might even do some house cleaning :open_mouth:

Pavo, this region gets tornadoes, but not ever year and this is the closest one has been to me in the 25 years I’ve been here; but we usually get 1-2 warnings every spring when the weather gets nasty.

Red , less expensive apartments? I didn;t know such a creature existed, hope they meet your specifications. Will be looking for one in about 3-4 years if all goes as planned.

Swampy. it’s nice and cool (59F) right now with blue skies, but rain is due tomorrow and there is about a 30% chance of rain (up to 80% on a couple of days) for the next week or so. Well, at least it’ll be an excuse to get some reading done…

Sticky Buns, hope the dentist can fix things without going Venice on your mouth…good luck with the pillow!

FCM, while I hope your Mom is hale and hearty when you return, it’s probably a good idea to plan ahead. Enjoy dinner.

And it’s 7am so I think I’ll don clothing appropriate for Krogering and go forth early. Have a good Firday all.

Lord knows I’ve been trying.

Yesterday Barn Manager Brad asked me if I can do Ariel’s morning meds instead of the barn staff. What could I say? So for the next 28 days I will get up at 6am, drive to the barn, give her meds, drive home, do whatever until 2:30, drive back to the barn to administer PM meds, come home, eat dinner and collapse. This is like a job! I’m an RDOS. I don’t have time to work.

Music Man called me about an hour ago and said that he fell. It’s taken them this long to get him to an urgent care place to check him out. I’m currently on the proverbial pins and needles waiting to hear what they say. According to him, his arm is stiff and his chest hurts when he breathes.

It’s been insinuated that I should lay back and wait for directions, if any. If this was not the case, I’d have had him at the urgent care and back home in a comfy chair by now. I do hope nothing is broken and that he will be relatively ok. I don’t like to see him hurt or suffering in anyway.

Mornin’ everyone.

This morning, it is 51°F and mostly cloudy. Today, there will be a mixture of sun and clouds, with a high temperature of 70°F.

Sticky, I hope everything turns out alright for MusicMan.

VanGo, I’m so pleased they’ve extended your employment. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you’ll be permanent by the end of the year.

Metal Mouse, talk about a close call!

Red, I hope you find the right place.

Errands and filling the Jeep’s fuel tank must occur today. I haven’t put fuel in the Jeep since the last week of April. By being an RDOS, I’ve already saved nearly 400 bucks in fuel costs. Other than that, nothing too exciting is going on.

The neighbors who live two houses away are getting a new roof. The big ol’ container dumpster was put in their driveway yesterday, so I assume work will start today. It’s going to be a little bit noisy for a bit.

Okay, the pups want to play, and I need some more coffee. I hope you all have a good day!

Like I used to tell people about my family arrangements: “Just me and my wife. No kids, no pets, no houseplants. If it eats it’s too much work.” At that time my wife was healthy and fully self-sufficient; so a net gain, not a net burden.

RDOS day here today. Now at the crack of 10am I need ought to get sheveled & fed. Laundry’s caught up, GF won’t get here until Sat afternoon, so I’m sort of unsupervised and unoccupied. I’m sure the devil can find a use for these idle hands. Yaay!!

Murder She Wrote :d&r:

It’s more about continuing my current employer based insurance until I get something on the marketplace.

The Nashville area is a higher priced housing market than Houston for the most part. A studio in most parts of Nashville will run $1400 a month. My little 560 sf place out here in the working class 'burbs is $1200. A lot of the apartments that looked good were priced like someone who is renting out a room with a shared bath here.

On the upside, there is time for a nap between doses.

Anybody seen shoe around yesterday?

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, bed stripped, a load of sheets /towels in the wash and fixing to do KP.

I need to call the ortho this morning to find out when and where my torture spinal injection will be. Then I’ll call the disability attorney and review the healthcare plans available. After that, it will be pre-RDOS activity!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

My neck started feeling better after the first negroni yesterday. I’m guessing it’s at about 80%. It’s still sore, but I’m not getting the pangs when I turn my head.

Starting today: No nuts, seeds, small grains, or fish oil. (I’m not sure if I’m allowed to eat sardines.) I’ll have to get some non-multi grain bread. AFAIK, I can maintain an otherwise normal diet until Thursday. Thursday I’ll have a limited breakfast, and then start the purge medicine and go to a liquid diet. I have a quart each of non-fat chicken broth and beef broth.

Got the IRS refund deposited, so that mess is cleaned up with unexpected ease. Nice to know that at least one agency is functional.

All puzzles puzzled, and some light shopping done. I had to leave exercise early as I had a migraine aura developing. They’re not painful, but are very distracting. My excuse and I’m sticking with it.

Red, nappage will definitely occur between meds administration!

Social Security was deposited today even though it’s scheduled for the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Ah yes, when the people around you turn into paintings by Picasso…

Or at least that’s how it works for me.

MusicMan is home. They actually sent him to the hospital because he had landed on his chest. No broken bones, just lots of pain. He’ll go back to work next Tuesday or so.

Mine, too. I’m not sure I understand why. But it means I can pay a couple of bills a couple of days earlier.

Laundry is done. Putting the slipcovers back on the recliners was a lot of fun… Actually, the second one was lots easier than the first because I figured out what I should have done with the first. I was surprised how cruddy they were - now they look nice, for a few days, at least.

Two anna half hours till we have to leave and meet Daughter et al. I could do something productive, but I don’t feel like it because RDOS. Maybe I’ll walk down to the mailbox - fresh air and exercise, right?

A bunch of people were out today, so it was a tad chaotic. I was covering the 300 Slide, and sorting on the table. I stopped ot Teeter, and got some catfish, and at the Likker Sto for 3 fifths of gin. Now laundry is in the dryer.

If you wanted to do this sort of thing, you would have bought a large animal or something.

Cabot Cove was a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Mos Eisley ever was.

Healed by the power of gin!

Man, my day job sure does eat into my Mumping time! :joy:

Work was busy this week: not crazy, but steady enough that although I read the MMP every day I never had time to post. And yesterday I went to the office for an all-day strategy workshop: it was actually a worthwhile session, but usually I work from home on Thursdays (and Fridays) so it made the week feel a little extra long. Happily, today I was able to log off shortly after lunch! I’ve been putzing around online for the last couple of hours, catching up on emails and other SDMB threads. This post is the last thing I’ll do before I go to the grocery store and then dive into a long weekend of sloth.

I have no real plans for the next few days. I might go hear some live jazz tomorrow evening, and I’m also tracking a Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington performance on Sunday evening (part of World Pride). I’ve been to/seen a few of their shows, and they’re very talented – and often very funny. Both events will be game-day decisions, but in their favor is that (a) the weather is supposed to be great all weekend and (b) neither venue is more than 5 miles from my house.

A few hours ago I ordered another retired Lego set: the 2021 Typewriter (from Amazon), which had been on my wish list for a while. Only $80 more than it originally listed for; not bad. It should be delivered on Sunday…hopefully in the morning or afternoon, so I’ll have most of that day + all of Monday to build. The Sherlock Holmes and Hogwarts Express book nooks will arrive about a week later. Meanwhile, I’m looking forward to more quality time with Guards! Guards! on my Kindle.

Time to go to the sto’. Hugs/boos/yays as applicable…I’ll be more social this weekend!
