In case you haven’t seen it, here is the link to the show.
I think it is great! Joan Rivers is her usual bitchy, funny self, but she actually gets rich people to invite her into her homes and tell her how they made their money. She also stands on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and picks out people who look like they have money and flat out asks, “How’d ya get so rich?” Amazingly, people tell her.
It is interesting to see how many people have tons of money from pretty ridiculous and simple ways. Plus it is fun to see some of those homes and cars. If you haven’t seen an episode, give it a try!
I’ve been watching, only because after living in L.A. for 3 years, I’ve asked the same question in my head countless times after being at a stoplight and having a Lamborghini/Phantom/Bentley pull up next to me, driven by someone who is clealy NOT a celebrity. I’m sure the novelty of the show will wear off after a season or two, but for now it’s pretty entertaining.
This show is right up my alley. I love Joan Rivers and I have ALWAYS wondered about this question. There are more multi-million dollar houses, Bentleys, and Ferraris around here than you can shake a stick at. Driving around southern California is even worse.
Unfortunately I haven’t caught it yet, but I will try to. Is it a show you can watch online somewhere?
Seriously? You find her funny? I love to laugh and consider the peak moments of my life those when I was laughing hardest, and I’ve never laughed at anything Joan Rivers has ever said. I’m honestly curious what you see in her. She doesn’t seem to ever say anything that could be construed as a “joke” (i.e. something that could be told by someone else and get a laugh) and doesn’t have a persona that is inherently humorous as far as I can tell. I thought the National Lampoon pegged her perfectly as “someone who has managed to have a career in comedy without ever saying anything funny - she just talks loud.”
Note: This is not the old “women aren’t funny” thing. There are dozens of female comics that I find hilarious. I specifically find Joan Rivers unfunny.
Have you ever seen or heard truly candid interviews with her?
I find Joan hilarious. I admit the few times I’ve seen her standup it’s ranged from slight-below to slightly-above average, but her appearances on the Howard Stern show almost always leave me rolling in laughter.
I actually used to like Joan Rivers, I used to think she was funny, and I would watch her. In the past, I could find humor even in her comments of other people because I used to think she was just kidding, but now I know that when Joan Rivers is saying those things, she is not kidding, she is not saying those thing to be funny, Joan Rivers really is a hateful inconciderate uncaring, selfish, person not worth watching.
It was a strategic mistake for Joan to be on Celebrity Apprentice.
I also will never watch Celebrity Apprentice anymore.
