We’re still in the beginning of the increase of flu season. I had a bad cold and ended up watching Ellen Degeneres’ show. Couldn’t be bothered to get out DVDs or blu-rays.
Hacking up a lung, it feels like. Mrs P and I are both going through colds. I got mine on a business trip, flying in those metal closed tubes, sharing germs with everyone for four hours. That was two weeks ago and the coughing has got steadily worse.
At least the doc gave me an antibiotic. Said that if it’s lasted for more than two weeks, there might be something more going on than just a cold.
I and Mr. brown both had the flu in mid-November, despite having gotten flu shots in October. I guess the shot was good against a different strain.
We were both horribly sick. Coughing nonstop, fever, chills, and very bad body aches. I was out sick from work for three and a half days total, Mr. brown for three days. It has been a month and a half since we had it, and Mr. brown is only now feeling completely well. He’s 68 years old, and if he ever gets it again, I’m dragging him in to the doctor for some Tamiflu. This is the kind of virus that can kill you.
I’m doing fine. I last had the flu (at least I and my Dr. are pretty sure that’s what it was) about 10 years ago. it wasn’t as horrible as some get it, mostly it was feeling lethargic and a temperature which spiked up to 104 for a bit.
ever since I get the flu shot every fall, and really only get one (rarely two) colds a year. Amusingly, this year I came down with a cold as I was driving home from the clinic to get my flu shot.
Got the flu shot for the first time this year since I despise anti-vaccers and decided it would be the right thing to do. Never had the flu in the past 10-15 years even without the vaccine, but since I live alone, I don’t have the vectors many do. Have had the ‘24-hour bug’ a couple of times that put me in bed, but nothing more.
My fever is broken, but I still feel like a limp rag. I’m still coughing. I did get a flu shot (I always do) but, as noted, they’re not protective against every strain. Hang in there everyone.
Not sick at all. I get my flu shot every year without fail. The center where I go for my dialysis treatments is pretty good about giving me any immunizations I might need without having to set my doctor.
This. I lived thru SARs in China.
Wash your hands, hand sanitizer, sneeze/cough into your shoulder, avoid touching public things with your hands, press the elevator button with a knuckle instead of a finger tip, etc. Makes a big difference even without getting to OCD levels. ![]()
It’s flu season, so I’m doing the fanatical hand-washing thing. I’m one of the people who can’t get the vaccine yet I have a job with heavy contact with the general public. Hoping to dodge the bullet this year. So far I’ve avoided several other bugs my co-workers have been suffering through, so fingers crossed.
Sorry about you folks suffering. Flu is awful.
I had the actual flu in 2018 and it was miserable. I’d cough every few seconds and it was like that for an entire month. It was a very unpleasant experience.
I started getting the flu shot after that, but I read a study that when they aren’t certain which viruses are going to match the vaccine, the NNT for the vaccine is around 100. Which was disappointing, I was hoping it was higher than that.
I just hope I don’t get the flu again. I did have food poisoning last month, which was shorter lived but more miserable than the flu.
Love it! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GZYhDMCOyww ![]()
Sorry you are under the weather. I’ll send Miracle Max your way.
