I do not think I have ever heard Huckabee answer a question about why he holds a position where he does use an analogy (or a joke). Does he ever directly answer a question on why he holds a position without using an analogy (or joke)?
— Sorry if this the wrong forum.
Does any politician?
I can’t answer the OPs question but wouldn’t it be funny if he was asked why he always uses analogies and he responds with an analogy?
Actually, one of the nice things I discovered about Obama early on is that he really seemed to listen to the question being asked and answer the fucking question. He’s gotten more sound-bitey deeper into the campaign, but he’s one of the few major politicians I’ve seen who can get a nuanced question and give an answer that is actually responsive.
Perhaps he thinks he is Jesus? Jesus usually responded with a parable when he was asked a question.
My favorite example is when asked why he didn’t support raising the minimum wage is Arkansas he sputtered, “Why not make it $20.00 an hour?”
Many, many pastors do the same thing. It’s very annoying, but it allows them a great deal of wiggle room (or so it seems). Not the best quality in a politician (although they would argue otherwise, I’m sure).
