Saturday was the fourth running of the Hughson Supercross Invitational hosted by Hughson High School. (where I coach)
Despite having grown from 11 to 17 teams this year, the meet went smoothly and on schedule.
Because of the flat terrain, the meet has several features to attract cross-country teams.
Distinctive medals went to the first twelve finishers in each race.

Borrowing from cycling races was the idea of giving out premes. In this case, first runner through the mud pit and randomly selected places received donated prizes and gift cards from local businesses.
The mud pit.
20 meters of thick, ankle deep, shoe stealing mud that is run twice in the race.
Very popular with the spectators and the runners(after they were finished :D).
Course map.
The location of the mud pit is just to the left of the light rectangle. Look for a slightly greener narrow rectangle just below the 1 km marker.
Lots of photos. (You don’t need to be on Facebook to view.) Our kids are in yellow.
