I don’t expect to ever see an iPad bundle simply because of the walled iTunes ecosystem. On Android, Humble Bundle has their own app for accessing, updating and otherwise handling your Humble Android purchases. It’s not as though they give you a Google Play code or anything.
Now that Humble Bundle has changed the rules to require people to beat the average to get future bonus games, I find myself disinclined to pay more than a buck. I used to give at least $5 even if I wasn’t looking to get the second tier but knowing I’m getting the bare minimum makes me feel like paying the bare minimum.
Exactly. There’s just no way to do it. Apple’s store takes a certain percentage off of sales. They do not let you give an app away free to only some people–otherwise you’d just sell your app somewhere else and give it away free, giving Apple nothing. If you make it free for some people, you make it free for everyone.
The only way to get Ticket to Ride on your iPhone is to do it the same way you would have before you bought the bundle–either pay or piracy.
Due to a weird internet connection, I accidentally bought two copies of the Nordic Games weekly sale. I therefor have extra keys for:
GROUP 1: Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, The Guild 2, and Red Faction: Armageddon
and
GROUP 2: Painkiller: Hell & Damnation, ArcaniA, Darksiders II, and SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny
(Those two sets all get redeemed at the same time each with their own keys, so I can’t split the games up individually).
If anyone is interested in getting these keys from me PM me and I’ll shoot them your way and you can add these games to your steam library. Note that these are steam only downloads. I’ve already activated all these games with my first set of keys I bought, so there’s nothing shady here other than that I have an extra set of keys I will never use.
This week is a pretty great one, if you have friends to play with.
Orcs Must Die 2 is a blast, similar to Dungeon Defenders but with a much tighter, more actiony feel. It does feel like it’s been balanced for two player co-op, though, so if you can only play solo you might have some difficulty.
Magicka is also great fun with friends. Extremely chaotic, but it’s pretty easy to resurrect dead friends, so you won’t get too angry. Not sure I’d enjoy it single player, though.
Serious Sam 3 is a pretty solid 90s style FPS. Lots of enemies, you shoot them. I didn’t like Serious Sam HD very much for some reason, but 3 has a better feel to me. Again, probably best to play in co-op.
Natural Selection 2 I haven’t played, but I hear good things about. Between this and the Steam sale, there should be a big influx of new players, though, so now would be a good time to play it.
No comment on Sanctum 2. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first one.
Garry’s Mod is just silly fun, building dirigibles and seeing how many rockets you can tie together.
Seriously, for $4ish, buy it and maybe get an extra one to give to a potential co-op partner or two.
There’s a new Humble Weekly sale going on that I’m interested in but I’d like some feedback on the games first. They’re offering:
Overlord
Overlord: Raising Hell DLC
Overlord II
Operation Flashpoint: Red River
Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Rise of the Argonauts
DiRT Showdown
DiRT 3
The fantasy games don’t interest me all that much but at that price, who cares? I think the DiRT games and the shooters look like they’re worth at least $6 for the bunch. Has anyone played any of these? Are they worth it when I have about 50 other recent Steam sale purchases I haven’t gotten to yet?
So it seems like Double Fine is going to do a new Humble Bundle ever year. The only difference this time is that you get an option to pay to playtest their new SF game.
They are also apparently doing a new Amnesia Fortnight, where they spend 2 weeks developing a bunch of new game prototypes. You get to vote on which ideas get an actual prototype.
The current bundle has Guacamelee, which is well worth the price of admission. Paying more than average also nets you Monaco, which is an awesome game if you have people to play with.
This isn’t a Humble Bundle but it’s sure a deal. The Kalypso Strategy Pack has 43 items in it for $49.99. I’m not familiar with many of the games though. Does anyone know if any of these games would make it worth purchasing?
The Tropico 4 collector’s edition is probably worth 10 bucks. Omerta, Dungeons, and Jagged Alliance were all games that should have been way better than they ended up being. The rest of the games look like they got equally unimpressive reviews.
I already have Tropico 4 but I may take advantage of the sale to pick up some of the DLC on the cheap, and I may get Dungeons despite its lukewarm reviews. The whole pack’s definitely not worth the cost of admission, though.
