Follow the link below for the Humble Indie Bundle 3.
These bundles are from indpendent game developers and (usually) are pretty fun and clever. You can pay what you want for the five games (or nothing at all) so a good bargain any way you slice it. If you want a portion of your purchase price can go towards supporting the Electronic Frontier Foundation and/or Child’s Play charities (or none at all if you want).
I didn’t get to explore the site too deeply but clicking on VVVVVV just says that the site is down while the game is part of the Bundle. Anyone know what it’s about?
Something about the last bundle (a couple betas and a game they openly admitted wasn’t and would never be finished) put me off from jumping in but I might give it a whirl this time around. I promise to go over a penny though and not brag about how I’m screwing over a charity.
Just to let everyone know, they added the Humble Bundle 2 to the the 3rd one if you pay more than the average amount. I’ve been wanting to pick up Braid so this was great news for me.
Wow, plus the bonus game they added when I wasn’t looking. Bundle #3 wasn’t enough for me, as I have VVVVVV and I was told Cogs wasn’t that great, but all 11 games are easily worth $15-20.
That sucks. Those are the same two I have. Let me know what does happen in Steam. Not that I do much with the gifts I do have; I still have a copy of Half-life 2.
Ordering the Bundle gave me a link to a site where each game has its own download link. So I suppose I could download the file for Braid and just email it to someone if I felt so inclined (since it’s DRM free). Or email the file to 100 people if I was a dick.
Sorry for the confusion; I was basing it off other’s reports on the Steam forums. Really, Steam has nothing to do with this that I can tell since all the files are available as directly downloaded executables.
Don’t worry, people on every forum are idiots. Except this one
Right below the purchase button, it does say “includes Steam key,” but not if it’s for every game. I saw something (on a forum…) that seems to suggest they all have keys except Cortex Command, but don’t know if that refers to HIB2 and 3 or just 2.
But thanks for looking, I appreciate it. Will probably pick this up when I get home.
I bought HIB3 early on. Just found that it now includes two new games, and that I also get HIB2. Sweet. The extra HIB3 games have already been added to my Steam library (without any notification) and you get a second Steam code for HIB2. Only Cortex Command isn’t on Steam.
I already had Braid and Machinarium (which is why I passed on HIB2) so I can confirm that you can’t “gift” a new copy if you already own something.
Please don’t pay less than the .30 paypal fee. You’re charging them for giving you games at that point. Go find the numerous places pirating the games if you’re that hard up as it would actually save them money.
Seriously if you can’t shell out at least $5.00 you shouldn’t be buying games anyway. Cogs alone is £6.99 on Steam. Atom Zombie Smasher is £5.99 there’s no way you’re losing out. (I’d say Cogs has given me about $5 worth of fun and Zombie is easily worth $10).
Also if you pay over the average (currently around $5.65) they throw in the previous bundle as well. This kind of behaviour should be rewarded and encouraged.
