Humm - It looks like my Gecko died recently.

:frowning:

I had him for 9 years, which I think is pretty good for a gecko - according to my book, captive life span is only supposed to be about 8.

I’m still bummed though. He was a very good gecko. Friendly - you could pet him. And fun to watch - he hunted like a cat.

Poo. :frowning:

i’m sorry.

i think about getting a gecko every now and again. there are just too many places for a gecko to get out of the house and into other houses. i like the fact that they keep your house bug free.

I’m so sorry… :(As a fellow gecko lover, I sympathize. My beloved Jade will never die, I’ve made quite sure of that. She left this world in 2000, but she now resides permanently on to off my left shoulder, thanks to a local tattoo artist. She goes where I go.

Syl

I don’t quite know what to do now.

The ground is frozen, so I can’t bury him, and throwing him out seems pretty cold for a pet you’ve had for almost a decade.

Crud. :frowning:

Have you considered the way of the vikings?

A mini funeral pyre seems like quite a tribute…

Plus when you flush, the fire will go out… Ow! Quit hitting!

Seriously, I’m sorry - geckos are cool little creatures.

do you have a largish house plant? or perhaps you could get a special house plant (like a small palm) and pot it in a larger pot that you could put your gecko in.

i do this with my fish, when they move on to the “big ocean.”

Humm - this seems like a good idea.

I have a rubber tree here that is large enough to accomodate…

Now I just don’t know what to do with the tank. :frowning:

You are lucky it wasn’t a chameleon. Where the hell is that smell coming from?? Ow! Quit hitting!

I am sorry for your loss :frowning:

Well, at least now you wont be getting all those annoying phone calls for Gieco.

Sorry about the loss.

as for the tank… if you aren’t planning on another reptile or fish, how 'bout a terrarium? that would work as a burial chamber as well.

Well, I’ve had a brief burial cerrimony, and now Ludwig will spend eternity in my dragon tree.

Thanks for the nice words folks. I know he’s just a gecko, but he was still very friendly, and would sit on your arm and let you pet him for hours.

All in all, he was an excellent pet, and I am sad to see him go.

My BF and I are going to puruse the pet shops on Friday and see if there might be a new candidate for my empty tank.

Damn it, Amp, you beat my to it!

And Alice, you have my sympathy.

My brother had a gecko a few years back, it was really neat. We used to stick it on the TV and walls and it would crawl up to the cieling and go upside-down.

Sadly, Kabuki Joe passed on after a long battle with my brother’s inability to go to the petstore and buy crickets for him. He died, and my mom found him 10 days later after he started to smell.

You could make an interesting milkshake.

OW! Quit hitting!

Ya know - I bet if it had been my dog that had died, people wouldn’t be cracking jokes so readily. :frowning:

Alice…I’m sorry. Didn’t know it cut that deep. :frowning:

Uh, alice your thread title kind of leads people in that direction, ya know? It’s not My Pet Died or I’ve Lost My Gecko, but Humm - It looks like my Gecko died recently. Which sounds rather, blase, as if you weren’t terribly upset by the whole thing. Of course, that might be simply how you handle the death of any pet, I don’t know. Me? I get choked up at the deaths of pets and total strangers. Family members? Well, they don’t emotionally upset me for some reason. I don’t pretend to understand it all works. In any case, I’m sorry that you lost your pet. Hope that you’re able to find one similarly affectionate.

Just because I wasn’t demonstrative in my thread title, I don’t think it gives people carte blanch to start cracking jokes. :frowning:

Whatever.
